Henderson County Youth Baseball’s Board of Directors invites you back for 2013.  We’ve worked hard over the fall and winter to make 2013 our best season ever.  Please read below for some of the changes we’ve made to enhance our program.

Jackson Park:  Henderson County Commissioners have approved $ 284,000.00 in repairs and improvements to the park.  Initial plans call for new fencing/backstops on Fields 1, 2 and 3.  New scoreboards, batting cages and remodeling of the bathrooms and the concession stand.

New 13 Year old’s-50/70 Intermediate Program.   A new Little League division with 50 ft. pitcher’s  mound  and 70 ft. bases.  This program has been developed to bridge the gap between Little League and middle school/high school baseball.  This program has been designed with the flexibility to play some games at Jackson Park and with other District 5 LL programs in western NC.  In 2013 HCYB will offer this to 13 yr. olds only, but may change to allow 12 and 13 yr. olds in future seasons. 9/10 yr. old Division.  The 9 and 10 year old division will be combined to allow us in the near future to develop three divisions for player pitch.  All-stars will have separate tournament teams for 9 yr. olds and 9/10 yr. olds if warranted. 

Future plans under consideration for Player Pitch:Minor league - Player pitch Ages 9/10Major league – Player pitch Ages 11/12 and drafted 10 year olds with parent’s approvalIntermediate League – Players 12/13 and drafted 11 year olds with parent’s approval

Playing up/Playing down.  The policy of HCYB is to encourage parents to have their children play within their child’s Little League age-group.  Recognizing that children have different abilities and maturity HCYB will allow children 8 and under to play up or down one age-group with the following restrictions. 

1. Parents must sign a waiver in person at one of our walk-in registrations.
2. Players moving down an age-group must attend the 7 year old evaluation for Board’s approval
3. The HCYB Board of Directors has the authority to deny a request to play down based on their assessment of the player’s ability.  Refusal to accept this decision forfeits any payment to HCYB.
4. Eight year olds are ineligible to play up into the 9/10 yr. old program
5. Players playing in a division below their LL age-group are ineligible for “Little League” All-star play.

Coaches, please remember that HOME team is to email scores and pitch counts to hcybscores@bellsouth.net within 24hrs of game completion.
