The Haymarket Senators are a member of the 12-team, summer collegiate, wooden bat Valley Baseball League. The Valley Baseball Leagues is endorsed by the National Collegiate Athletic Association and sponsored, in part, by Major League Baseball.
The VBL consists of three divisions. The Northern division includes the Fauquier Gators, the Front Royal Cardinals, the Haymarket Senators and the Winchester Royals. The Central division consists of the Harrisonburg Turks, the Luray Wranglers, the New Market Rebels and the Woodstock River Bandits. The Southern division includes the Covington Lumberjacks, the Rockbridge Rapids, the Staunton Braves and the Waynesboro Generals.
The teams will play a 44 game schedule which will consist of 24 Interdivisional games and 20 Cross-geographic games.
This year's playoffs will begin July 31st with the top 2 teams from each division plus 2 wild cards which will be the next 2 teams with the best records. The Championship game is scheduled to be played on August 12th.
This year, the players from the VBL All-Star team will also play in a seperate All-Star game on July 15th against the Cal Ripken Sr. Collegiate League. This game will be televised on MASN. For more information on this exciting event click here.
