Welcome to the Hopkinton "Hawks" Baseball web page. Hopkinton High School is located in Contoocook, New Hampshire. We are a member of the NHIAA DIVISION 3.    Come watch the Hawks play at George's Park located at 297 Park Ave, Contoocook.

 4/14 BISHOP BRADY  WON 6-1 


The Hawks jumped out to a 2-0 lead after 2 innings and added 4 more in the 5th.  Liam McNicholas pitched 6 strong innings allowing only 4 hits and 2 walks to go along with 5 strikeouts.  Sophomore David Nelson came in and got 3 ground ball outs in the 7th.  At the plate Wes Rose, Evan O'Keeffe and Andrew Clay each had 2 hits.  The big hit came in the 5th inning when Alex Lajeunesse's 2 rbi single plated Jake Nelson and Liam McNicholas.  The Hawks collected 10 hits with Reale, McNicholas, and Paraskeva adding the other 3.  Defensively Andrew Reale and Collin Paraskeva played well for the Hawks who improve to 1-0.

4/17 CONANT  WON 11-4  HAWKS 11 CONANT 4
Senior Jake Nelson got his first start of the season at Conant and threw 6 strong innings allowing 2 hits and 1 walk while striking out 9, The Orioles scored 2 unearned runs in the 5th but the Hawks had already put the game away with a 6 run 1st inning, 1 in 2nd, 3 in the 3rd and the 11 run in the 5th.  Nelson went 3-5 at the plate with 2 doubles and a triple to go with his 3 rbi's.  Luke Greabe went 3-4 with 2 rbi's and both Alex Lajeunesse and Collin Paraskeva collected 2 hits a piece.  Lajeunesse also did an outstanding job behind the plate catching Nelson.  Other highlights from the game were Max Legier and Nolan Quinn's first varsity hits.  Hawks pounded 4 Conant pitchers collecting 14 hits and improved to 2-0.

WON 7-3


Tucker Windhurst (2-4, RBI),Ben McManus (1-4 2 RBI's) and Riley McNichlas (2-4, RBI) led the offensive attack.  McManus pitched 4 innings striking out 10 and allowing only 1 run to pick up the win.  Hawks are now 1-0. 
4/22  KEARSARGE Won  3-2  Hawks 3 Kearsarge 2
It was not a pretty game with the Hawks making quite a few base running mistakes but held on for the victory. Jake Nelson pitched 5 strong innings allowing 1 earned run while striking out 8 and walking 4. Liam McNicholas came in to pick up the save pitching the final 2 innings striking out 6 and allowing 1 unearned run. Collin Paraskeva knocked in 2 runs while Alex Lajeunesse claimed the only extra base hit for the Hawks. Evan O'Keeffe had two hits while Luke Greabe, Kyle LaPage and Max Legier picked up the other hits for the team. Hawks are now 3-0.
4/28  CAMPBELL  Lost  5-2

3 errors and a few mental mistakes cost the Hawks thier first loss of the season to a very seasoned Campbell team.  Collin Paraskeva collected an RBI sacrifice fly in the 4th and Luke Luneau smacked an RBI single in the 6th to account for the 2 Hawk runs.  Jake Nelson threw 5 innings and allowed 5 hits and 1 earned run while striking out 7.

Hawks are now 3-1 

4/29   MONADNOCK     WON 7-5 

Ben McManus* (four strikeouts) record his second win
going six innings, before giving way to *Kenny Andrew* who tallied his
first save on the year. Leading the Hawks offense were lead-off hitter *Will
Rhynhart* (3-for-3, 2 runs),*Tim Meserve* (2-for-3, 2 runs, stolen
base), *Jacob
Walling* (2-for-4, double, run, rbi), and *Dave Nelson* (1-for-3, double,
run, 2 rbi, walk). Rhynhart also made a great diving catch in left field to
double-up a Monadnock base-runner at second to end the game.

5/2  FALL MNT  Won 8-2

Dave Nelson pitched 5 innings allowing 2 runs and 4 hits while walking 1 and striking out 4 to pick up his first varsity win on the mound. Offensively the Hawks bats came alive in the bottom of the 4th inning scoring 7 runs on 7 hits, the big hit coming off the bat of Andrew Reale who had an RBI pinch hit single. Kyle LaPage went 3-3 and scored 2 runs while Evan O'Keeffe added a 3-4 performance with an RBI. Finally, Wes Rose went 2-4 with an RBI. Collin Paraskeva and Alex Lajeunesse both pitched shut out innings in the 6th and 7th. Hawks improve to 4-1.

AWAY  4:00PM 
 5/5 MASCENIC  Won 6-3 Hopkinton Hawks outlasted the Mascenic Vikings on Monday after several lead changes, squeaking out a 6-3 win. The Hawks finally managed to grab the lead in the fifth inning capitalizing on 2 big Mascenic errors.
Jake Nelson recorded eight strikeouts, allowed one earned run on three hits and two walks over seven innings. He threw 75 pitches.
The top of the first saw the Hawks take an early lead, 1-0. A double by Evan O'Keeffe, plating Jake Nelson started the inning off. Additional rbi came from a sacrifice fly by Wes Rose in the 6th inning. O'Keeffe, Alex Lajeunesse and Jake Nelson each collected 2 hits. The defensive play of the game was also made by Lajeunesse, after a Mascenic lead off walk in the 5th, Lajeunesse picked off the baserunner.
Hawks improve to 5-1 and play at Bow Wednesday.
5/7  BOW  Lost 7-1  The Hawks struggled through one of the teams worst performances in recent years, walking 8 and committing 7 errors in route to a disappointing performance. On the bright side, Luke Luneau collected 2 hits, Nolan Quinn had an RBI single and the two Nelson boys each had hits.    HOME 4:00PM 
5/8 SUNAPEE       Lost 10-6  Kolin Lapage went 2-3 with a walk and 2 runs scored and an RBI. Kayl Murdough drew 3 walks and Will Rhynhart went 1-3 with an RBI single.  Kevin Smith pitched well in relief striking out 4 of the 7 batters he faced. 
5/9  NEWPORT  Lost 11-6 Another tough afternoon for the Hawks. 12 walks allowed (7 scored) and 4 errors (3 scored) and we lost 11-6 at Newport. Bright spots: Wes Rose 2 hits 4 rbi's, Luke Greabe, Luke Luneau and Andrew Reale also collected 2 hits each. Tough to lose like we did but as I said after the game, proud of the fight I saw in you tonight. I didn't see you quit and that tells me we are closer to getting better. Take care of your Mothers Sunday and lets get after it Monday home vs Bow.  HOME 4:00PM 
5/12  BOW  Lost 6-5  In a back and forth game the Hawks took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the 3rd on a bases loaded single by Andrew Clay and a Walk from Luke Luneau. Bow scored 2 in the top of the 5th to tie the game. Hawks responded with 3 in the bottom of the 5th when Clay collected his 2nd RBI of the game with a Sac fly, Luneau had a RBI double and Wes Rose knocked in a run with a single. Bow scored 3 times in the top of the 6th taking advantage of a 2 out walk with 3 straigh...t hits. Bow also scored the winning run in the top of the 7th with 2 outs and no one on base when they capitalized on a error, stolen base and an error. Hawks fought to the end with the tying run on 3rd and winning run on 2nd when the final out was recorded on a outfield flyball. Collin Paraskeva collected 3 hits on the day while Andrew Clay and Jake Nelson each had 2. Nelson pitched the first 5.67 innings of 4 hit ball striking out 7. Liam McNicholas was the hard luck loser pitching the final 1 1/3 innings.  AWAY 4:00PM 
5/13 SUNAPEE      HOME  4:00PM 
5/14 HILLSBORO  Won 11-1

Hawks break 3 game losing streak by pounding Hillsboro-Deering 11-1 in 5 innings. Andrew Reale went 2-2 with a double, single and bases loaded walk to collect 3 RBI's and Jake Nelson was 3-4 with 4 well hit balls and 2 RBI's. Collin Paraskeva and Kyle LaPage each had RBI doubles in the first inning and the Hawks cruised from there. Liam McNicholas was sharp on the bump, allowing only 3 hits in his 5 innings of work. He struck out 4. Hawks improve to 6-4.

5/16  BRADY Won 6-4   Trailing 4-3 going into the top of the 7th inning, the Hawks battled back when Luke Greabe was hit by a pitch, Jake Nelson had a single to left field and after a pop out both Greabe and Nelson advanced on a past ball. Collin Paraskeva came up with a 3-2 clutch 2 rbi single to put the Hawks up 5-4. Paraskeva stole 2 bases and after Max Legier walked, the team executed a double steal scoring Paraskeva with the insurance run. Jake Nelson pitched th...e first 5 innings allowing 4 hits and walking 3 while striking out 7. Dave Nelson pitched the 6th inning to pick up the win and Liam McNicholas came on in the 7th to collect the save. Collin Paraskeva and Jake Nelson each had 3 hits while Luke Luneau (2 rbi's) and Alex Lajeunesse each collected 2 hits. The Hawks play a Make up game with Franklin tomorrow. Hawks are now 7-4  AWAY 4:00PM 
5/19  FRANKLIN  Won 14-0  Hawks break out with an 11 run first inning as they cruised to a 14-0 win in 5 innings over Franklin.
Jake Nelson (3B, 2B 3 RBI's) and Luke Greabe (2 singles and 2 RBI's) helped get the Hawks off to a big lead in the first inning. The team totaled 9 hits and 4 BB in the inning as well. Greabe finished the game with 3 hits and Luke Luneau also collected 2 hits. Collin Paraskeva and Alex Lejeunesse also each knocked in 2 runs. On the mound Freshman Ben McManus enjoyed all the offensive support as he threw a 2 hitter striking out 4 while walking 0 in his first Varsity appearance. Hawks improve to 8-4.
AWAY   4:00PM
5/21  CAMPBELL  Lost 1-0 In a game that took all of an hour and 15 minutes the Hawks came out on the wrong end of a 1-0 game.  Senior Liam McNicholas did an outstanding job on the mound keeping the Cougars off balance allowing only 2 hits and 1 unearned run on 85 pitches.  The Hawks just couldn't generate any offense off the Campbell ace collecting 2 hits one from both Jake Nelson and Alex Lajeunesse. On a side note:  the outfield trio of Wes Rose, Kyle LaPage and Max Leiger each made outstanding catches to help keep the Hawks in the game. HOME  4:00PM 
5/25  KEARSARGE Won 5-1  Jake Nelson and Andrew Reale teamed up to collect 4 of the Hawks 5 hits and helped the team improve to 9-5 on the season with a 5-1 win over Kearsarge. Reale came up with a clutch 2rbi single in the third inning to open a 1-0 lead to 3-0.  Nelson pitched 6 innings allowing 1 hit and striking out 7.  He also led of the game with a single went to second on a sac bunt, stole 3rd and then stole home. Alex Lajeunesse collected the other Hawk hit with an RBI in the 7th.  Liam McNicholas pitched a 1,2,3 7th inning.    
5/26 HILLSBORO  Won 3-2 The Hawks slept walked through this game scoring the go ahead run in the bottome of the 6th on an Andrew Reale sacrifice fly scoring Luke Greabe.  Liam McNicholas pitched a complete game earning the win on the mound.     
5/27 KEARSARGE       HOME 4:00PM 
 5/28 CAMPBELL      AWAY  4:00PM 
5/30  CONANT  Won 5-2  Andrew Reale hit a homerun, had a sacrifice fly RBI and put down a bunt that turned into an error scoring the go ahead run to help the Hawks finish 11-5.  Liam McNicholas came on in relief to pick up the win on the mound pitching 2 innings of 1 hit ball.  AWAY 4:00PM 
 6/3  First Round BYE      
 6/5  STEVENS Won 5-0

Liam McNicholas threw a 4 hitter while walking only 1.  Jake Nelson reached base 3 times and the Hawks received RBI's from Kyle LaPage, Nelson and Alex Lajeunesse.   Wes Rose added a double and made an outstanding catch to end a Stevens threat. 

 6/7 Somersworth  Lost 16-6 In an afternoon where nothing went right for the Hawks the season came to a disapointing end.  The pitchers had a hard time allowing 15 Somersworth hits while the Hawk defense also committed 7 errors.  Collin Paraskeva and Kyle LaPage each hit 2 run homeruns to lead the Hawks.
