HAC-HTLL Partnership

Haverford Athletic Club (HAC) and Haverford Township Little League (HTLL) have created a partnership to offer a seamless baseball experience for Haverford Township boys and girls 5-12 years old.
HAC will continue to run two divisions of play in 2014 – T-Ball (Ages 5-6) and Machine Pitch (Ages 6-8).  HTLL will operate a Minor League Division (Ages 8-10) and a Major League Division (Ages 11-12).
All 8-year old players will register with HAC for the Machine Pitch Division, however all registered 8-year old players will be invited to HTLL’s Player Evaluations on March 8th at the Haverford College Field House.  Based on this evaluation, HTLL will invite a number of 8-year olds to play in the HTLL Minor League program based on skill level and the number of available roster spots.  If a player does not want to play in the HTLL Minor League they do not have to attend Player Evaluations.
There are many advantages to this partnership:

·         Provides HAC and HTLL players with a clear path of where they can play their baseball for 8 consecutive years.

·         Provides skill based options for 8-year old players who may benefit from an additional year of skill development before facing live pitching.

·         Also provides an option for more advanced 8 year old players to compete at a higher level with older kids.

·         HAC players moving to live-pitch baseball will receive “return-player” status at HTLL for early registration.  This is important as HTLL has filled all roster spots for the past couple of years and had to create waiting lists for new players.

·         Provides for a sharing of resources between the two leagues.

·         Provides HTLL with a known source of 8 and 9 year old players for their Minor League Division.

·         Creates a stronger “single” entity to position for field space and maintenance services from Haverford Township Recreation Department.
