Goalie drills during HMHA's September clinic.

The goalie committee for HMHA is putting on two goaltender clinics on Saturday, Nov. 7, as part of Development weekend. The clinics are free and will be an opportunity for HMHA goaltenders to get some individual attention to help them with their technical play.  The times are:

Novice, Atom and Peewee C goalies: 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.

Peewee Competitive, Bantam and Midget goalies: 1:45 p.m. to 2:45 p.m.

Each team must send at least one coach to help out on the ice and learn some drills to develop their goalies. Coaches should email Brian Cornish at acornish@nb.sympatico.ca to let him know who is coming.

Hockey and H1N1

The upcoming hockey season is expected to bring all the usual highlights and challenges that make up a Canadian winter at the rink. This year, however, there's an additional challenge most hockey families have never had to consider in the past. It's the H1N1 virus. CBC has an article about how hockey players should protect themselves  (Click on the headline above.)

Hockey Canada has also issued some guidelines. Click on the handout below.

In our district, hockey players are being asked to keep on their gloves when shaking hands at the end of the game. But parents and players can take extra measures. Read the article and take steps to protect yourself from getting sick.
