History

The original under 16 team

South Gippsland Hampton Park
In 1997 a chance meeting with former South Gippsland coach Ken Flannagan who was working at the time as director of the Hampton Park basketball stadium saw the birth of the Hampton Park Pioneers South Gippsland squads an opportunity for local South Gippsland players to play in the Strong metropolitan league. Two teams were entered under 14 girls and under 16 girls. These teams progressed through the long grading season and eventually the Under 16's were graded to championship level three of the players made the state team that year. The under fourteen team narrowly missed the championship grade that year and continued on to make finals in division one.

We are grateful to all the Hampton Park personnel who have continued to support this effort in giving local kids the chance to excel
