The Virginia Flames starting star pitcher, Rosie Weaver was recently selected to receive an annual MVP award from the NWB Hall of Fame. Her MVP nomination was prepared by Flames manager JoAnn Milliken supported by her teammates. Weaver in this starting role for 2005 greatly contributed to the Flame's 11-1 regular season record. Her pitching was instrumental in the league championship victories on October 1, 2005 demonstrating effective speed and control coupled with exceptional endurance on the mound. The following is Rosie Weaver's 2005 nomination statement by Flames manager JoAnn Milliken. Congratulations Cracklin' Rosie! ROSIE WEAVER, 2005 MVP NOMINATION by JoAnn Milliken Virginia Flames Manager "Rosie Weaver has been with the Flames for 6 years, starting as a catcher in the famous Ciulla-Weaver battery, and becoming a starting pitcher in the Flames 2005 season." "Rosie is a friendly, enthusiastic and dedicated player who is always striving for perfection. Rosie has excellent baseball skills, --she is able to play any infield position and play it well. And, she has an infectious smile that she brings to every game." "In addition, Rosie brings her lovely family. Whether he's chasing their adorable children Michael and Dylan, observing the game from the stands, or hanging out in the dugout, we always hear husband Tony's words of support when we're in the field or in the batter's box. On the rare occasions that they miss a game, we miss hearing Tony's endearing expression as he cheers for 'Ro-Ro.'" "She was the foundation of the Flame's pitching staff this year, pitching 60% of the innings, including at least one inning in every game and starting half of the games. She compiled a 7-1 record. She was a key factor in the Flames 11-1 regular season record and their third consecutive league championship. Throughout the season she showed a dedication to learning all facets of pitching." B.
