Hopkins Area Little League: 2010 HALL Divisions

T-Ball - (ages 5-7)
The H.A.L.L. T-Ball program is for boys and girls 5-6 years of age. While focusing on the basic skills our primary desire is to acquaint kids with baseball and the concepts of teamwork and sportsmanship.

Our T-Ball season runs from the first week in May to the 3rd week of June. Teams average 2 games and one practice per week. We cap off the season with a Showcase game and award ceremony in which all players participate.

Minors B - Machine Pitch (ages 7-9)
At this level of play H.A.L.L. uses pitching machines to develop the kids hitting skills. Boys and girls ages 7-9 can participate at this level.

Teams are formed by the Division Coordinator with input from parents, coaches, and league officials. This is a non-competitive division. No-standings are kept. The focus is on fun and basic skills.

Teams play three outs or 5-run limit per inning. Players can strike-out but cannot walk.

Schedules consist of about 12 games between the last week of April and the 3rd week of June. Teams average 2 games and one practice per week. We cap off the season with a Showcase game and award ceremony in which all players participate. If field space is available a Minors B Tournament is played in which all teams participate.


Minors A (ages 9-12)
The Minors A Division is comprised of boys and girls ages 9 through 12. All players wanting to participate at this level must attend evaluations in March each year. Teams are formed through a draft process and all 10, 11 and 12 year olds available in the Minors A draft must be chosen to a team. Nine year olds that are evaluated, but are not chosen, will be placed on a Minors B team.

This division is the first level at which the players face live pitching. Skill development is most noticeable at this level.

Teams are composed of approximately 13 players, 1 Manager, and 2 Coaches. A normal schedule consists of 10 in-house games with Hopkins teams and 4 inter-league games with another Little League in the District. Teams average 4-5 days per week between games and practices.

The season runs from the end of April through the end of June. All Minors A Teams participate in a post-season playoff. A Showcase game and award night will take place at the end of the season.


Majors (ages 10-12)
The Majors Division is the highest level of play in Little League. Boys and girls ages 10-12 must attend evaluations in March each year. Teams are formed through a draft process.

Teams are comprised of 12 players, 1 Manager, and 2 Coaches. By Little League rules a team can have no more than 8 players of any one age level.

Majors teams play approximately 20 games during the regular season; 15 games within Hopkins and 5 inter-league games with other Little Leagues in the District. All Majors teams participate in post season tournaments. Teams average 5-6 days per week between games and practices.

Twelve Majors players are selected for the Hopkins 11/12 year old All-Star team which participates in the Minnesota District 1 Little League tournament and are also eligible to advance to the Little League State, Regional and World Series tournaments; Players from this division are also eligible for the 11 year old and 9-10 year old All-Star teams (District and State tournaments only).


Challenger Division
The Challenger Division is open to boys and girls ages 5-18 years old with physical or mental disabilities. Players will participate in either a T-ball or adult pitch environment. Each player will use the "Buddy" system to assist them while on and off the field. This is a non-competitive division and no registration fee is required.
