Wednesday, November 1
Wildcat News for the week of November 1st, 2006
The Halifax Wildcats extended their 2006 record to 7 and 2 on the season with a big Senior Night win over the Juniata Indians on friday night. Next up the Wildcats will travel to Upper Dauphin to close out the 2006 regular season.

The Wildcats will be cheering on the Line Mountain Eagles as well on friday night as they travel to Millersburg. The Line Mountain - Millersburg game will decide the final Twin-Valley league standings with Millersburg already a lock in for at least a share of the League title. The Eagles will hope to grab a piece for themselves win an upset win over the Indians. With a win by the Eagles, the Wildcats will also grab a share of the title and each of the teams would finish with equal 7-1 league records.

Good luck to both teams at Millersburg.... but we have to cheer on the Eagles to hopefully pull out the upset and give the Cats a piece of the pie as well.

The Halifax and Millersburg teams have both clinched District 3 Class A playoff births with the Indians sitting at the number 1 seed this week and the Wildcats seeded 4th out of 8 teams. The Eagles are also locked into a playoff birth in the District 4 Class A playoffs as well.

Following the Upper Dauphin game the Wildcats will have a Pig Roast put on by the Touchdown club at the field. Good luck to all the teams this weekend in finishing out a great regular season.

IN MEMORY OF LINK WILSON
LWilson
Link Wilson... Coach - Mentor - Friend
Fellow coach in the CFA, Commissioner, and friend.

Link Wilson coached the East Shore Royals for many years and recently coached the Seven Sorrows Midget team. Link was a key figure in helping me to establish the CFA All-Star team as well as the CFA Scholastic team honors. He was a strong supporter of what we were trying to accomplish at Halifax and was himself working daily to teach his young players the same ideals and leadership skills to help guide them to be a better person.

Link remembered every battle that he had on the field playing “Those Halifax Boys” he would say, and followed their continued success at the Varsity level here at Halifax. Always making a comment about the players he once coached again. Proud as us that they were still playing and playing well. He didn’t just remember their numbers when he talked to me about them. He knew them and referenced them by first name, and nickname. He will be greatly miss by many. Link was 39 years old when he recently passed away.

My comments posted to the CFA Website...
Those of us who knew him best will talk about him often . . . sometimes it will make me sad though; Link being gone. I’ll have to remind myself that some birds aren't meant to be caged - Their feathers are just too bright. And when they fly away, the part of you that knows it was a sin to lock them up does rejoice. But still, the place you live in is that much more drab and empty that they're gone.
I already miss the laugh, the bling on the neck, the rings on the fingers, the wisdom and the compassion. I will miss looking across the green grass with painted lines, the young boys helmeted and scared... ready to battle’, standing beside him waiting for guidance. I miss the calls for hours on end during the season, that really had no meaning... at the time. I miss..., I will miss something... I guess I just miss my friend.
When my time comes I hope I will find I’m so excited, I can barely sit still or hold a thought in my head. I think it will be the excitement only a free man can feel, a free man at the start of a long journey whose conclusion is uncertain. I hope I can make it across the border. I hope to see my friend, and shake his hand. I hope that heaven will be as blue as it has been in my dreams. I hope to once again see my friend.
