REPORTING WINS (NEW!)

Coaches, you now have two options to report your wins:

1. Call the GWAC Hotline, 574-wins (9467). This line is available 24/7 to receive your calls. Please leave all information requested.

2. E-mail your results to 574wins@fuse.net. Subject line MUST include your division and game date (eg. 7/8 Red, 2/23/08). Body of the e-mail MUST include your name, school and opponent (eg. John Smith from St Ignatius. We defeated Jude #1).

Remember, you must report all wins within 72 hours of your game in order to receive credit (NO EXCEPTIONS).

DO NOT leave messages on the Hotline if you expect a return call. For any questions/issues you may have regarding league standings, procedures or any other league matters, contact your league secretary or your school's GWAC Representative.

LEAGUE STANDINGS

League standings will generally be updated on a weekly basis. Remember, you MUST report your wins (574-wins or 574wins@fuse.net) within 72 hours of your game in order to receive credit. "Late" calls or "No" calls will be reflected in the standings as ties, and will NOT count toward final standings. In the event of a discrepancy, you must provide the league the date and time when you called in your win or provide a copy of your sent e-mail.

HERE'S A THOUGHT...

TIPS & DRILLS:

BASKETBALL SHOOTING DRILL 1: WAVE BYE

1. Hold your hand up and spread the finger almost until it hurts. Then relax. The position your hand falls in naturally is the proper shooting cup.

2. The arm should be held in front of the face, with upper arm parallel to the floor and lower arm perpendicular to the upper arm, forming an L shape.

3. Hold your hand in a cocked position where there is a wrinkle behind the wrist.

4. Wave your hand forward and hold the position after the wave. The wrist should be straight in line with the lower and upper arm, and the arm should be extended forward. This is the follow-through position.

5. Repeat.

BASKETBALL SHOOTING DRILL 2: B.E.E.F.

Balance -- Make sure you are standing in a position with your feet a little closer than shoulder with apart. Also, make sure your shoulders and body are squared up to the basket.

Elbows in -- Bring your shooting arm up as if you are about to shoot a ball. Make sure that your elbow is close to your body and not extending out.

Eyes on target -- Your target should be the basket or if you are shooting a bank shot, your target should be near the tip of the box on the backboard.

Follow-through-As you shoot, wave your hand forward and hold the position after the wave. The wrist should be straight in line with the lower and upper arm, and the arm should be extended forward.

BASKETBALL SHOOTING DRILL 3: FORM FLIP

1. Hold a ball in your shooting hand only.

2. The lower arms are perpendicular to the upper arms, and the upper arms are parallel to the floor.

3. The wrist is cocked with the ball in the shooting hand. The ball should be slightly to the shooting hand side of the face.

4. Flip the ball very lightly in the air and catch it with only the shooting hand when it returns.

5. Repeat.

BASKETBALL SHOOTING DRILL 4: BASIC LINE

1. Straddle a section of a painted line on the court.

2. Go through your shooting motion, releasing the ball and seeing where the ball lands in relation to the line you are straddling.

3. If the ball lands on the line or close to it, your shooting motion is generally accurate.
