Your Help is Needed!The team is comprised of student-athletes who came to Grand Valley State University to receive a great education first and wrestle second. They are non-scholarship athletes who are competing simply for the love of the sport. They made a commitment to work very hard and represent the University with class.
In nine years, we have won five National Collegiate Wrestling Association Team National Championships and three Dual National Championships. We are proud of our accomplishments and look forward to continued success. However, we need your assistance to help provide our student-athletes with a first class experience.
The wrestling team is nearly completely self-funded. Outside a coaching stipend and an entry fees allotment from the Office of Student Life (which covers only three of the events’ fees), all funds for the team are raised through their efforts. With increased cost for travel, the team’s budget has nearly tripled in the last five years.
This increased expense has fallen squarely on the shoulders of the athletes; who pay dues to participate, pay their own travel expenses to events in Michigan, and work fundraising events throughout the year to raise additional funds. Even with these efforts, the team is in need of more financial support to remain competitive. We have established several ways in which you can help that are detailed below.
Personal Donations: The University's Alumni Association has developed a way in which individuals may donate directly to GVSU Wrestling. These personal donations can be directed toward an endowment established to Fund Wrestling for Future Lakers by selecting "Wrestling Endowment," or can be credited directly to the current team by selecting "Wrestling Club" on the form.
ANY AMOUNT THAT YOU ARE GENEROUS ENOUGH TO GIVE IS GREATLY APPRECIATED. You can donate in three ways:
BY PHONE by calling 616.331.6000 between 8 am and 5 pm, Monday - Friday. Simply specify that you would like your gift to go toward the “Wrestling Club” or “Wrestling Endowment.”
BY MAIL by downloading the “Donation Form” below. Again, simply choose “Wrestling Club” or “Wrestling Endowment” on the form. Choose any amount you would like by selecting “Other” under gift amount.
DONATE ONLINE at GVSU’s secure site, http://secure.gvsu.edu/campaign/index.cfm?action=give.give. TO ENSURE YOUR GIFT IS GIVEN TO THE WRESTLING PROGRAM, choose “Other specific fund (designate below)” from the This gift is for dropdown window. SPONSORSHIP OPPORTUNITIES
****A sponsorship in any of the areas below will result in recognition on the team website.*****
Golf Outing Sponsors: We are looking for both hole ($60 per hole) and cart ($20 per cart) sponsors.
Tournament Sponsors: We will be hosting several tournaments on campus and are seeking a sponsor that wishes to have the naming rights to the event ($500 per event). Each tournament is expected to bring ten plus teams to the Grand Rapids area from Michigan and surrounding states.
Weight Class Sponsors: We are looking for weight class sponsors ($200 per weight class). This sponsorship will gain the most exposure as we will recognize them at each event throughout the season
1. T-Shirt: Each team member will receive a GVSU Wrestling t-shirt with sponsors listed on the back. Here we can use your company logo to get the name and logo recognition your company desires.
2. Banner: A design similar to that on the back of the t-shirt will be placed on a large banner. This banner will be displayed at our events as we travel throughout the country competing. An excellent way to get your companies name exposed in markets it may not otherwise.
