Falcons stumble in loss to East Chapel Hill, 3-0
We did not come into this game ready to play.

We could have been feeling too good about ourselves after our opening game win, or just overconfident in our own abilities. Whatever the case may be, we got outworked in this match. East Chapel Hill came in to prove something, and we let them do just that. They came in with great effort, pride and intensity. We needed to be much better in all these areas.

This is uncharacteristic for a Green Hope team, and not what we should expect from ourselves. We can only hope that we learn from it, and NEVER let it happen again. I will do my part to make sure they do learn that lesson. I don't have a problem with losing, and losing outside of conference is where you do get the chance to learn the lesson without any real consequences. But losing like this, being out worked, is unacceptable for our team, or any team. We must learn from it.

Some players did come to play. Maria Rodriguez was wonderful today, and did a great job working in the central midfield. Grace Hamashima and Keris Evans showed some swerve up front, and Caitlin Messina did well in central mid. Rachel Wells covered for the defense, and did move forward nicely, and both Haley Rafols and Haley Patsey played fine at outside back.

Aside from our attitude adjustment, we do need to get some more depth in the back, which may be accomplished by adjusting the formation. We are hoping that this might free up the central midfield to attack more, and get further up the field to support the forwards. We are going to look at some line-up and position changes, after watching the first two games.

Our next game will be no easier, as we will be missing 8 players to a Vegas tournament for the Durham Jordan game. Our bench will have to step up and fill in for the starters, which is the job of reserves. These players are ready to get in and show what they can do. I think they are ready. Even so, it will be a touch match.
