Summer Hockey Camps at Georgetown

Georgetown Ice Center is pleased to announce the Hockey camp line up for the Summer of 2009. Below is a brief description and details for all the different camps.

Hockey Specialty Camps

Pee-Wees & Bantams Defensive Skills Clinic ~ June 29 - July 2

The Defensive Skills Clinic will focus on individual techniques necessary for both forwards and defensemen to play a more effective role in helping their team prevent the opposition from scoring. It is no secret that experienced coaches begin building their team around solid defensive play. With this premise in mind, we have constructed a curriculum to help all skaters improve and add new defensive skills to their game which will make them more valuable to their team. Defensive responsibilities in all three zones, gap control, playing 1 on 1’s, odd man rushes, angling, and defensive tactics will be analyzed and practiced . The skating and passing techniques to support these skills will also be developed. This is a great addition to our Checking & Safety Camp.

For more information please go to - www.hsc4me.com

Hockey Specialty Camps

Mite/Squirt Puck Skills Camp ~ July 13 - 17

A “must-take” camp for Mite and Squirt players who need the basic skills of puck handling, puck protection, and specific stick handling moves (dekes) in order to progress in this sport. This is our primary foundation camp that will help players improve in these skill areas in only one week. Detailed instruction is also provided on what to do during the hockey season in order to progress. Three and a half hours of daily on-ice instruction will be supported by off-ice sessions that are designed to help players understand the technical aspects of these skills while having loads of fun and making new friends.

The Life Time Athlete

Dates and Times (see below)

In addition to passion and dedication, what does it take to be a great football, hockey, soccer, basketball, tennis (you fill in the sport) player?  The answer is simple…it takes a great athlete!  To compete at a superior level in any athletic endeavor the participant must have six primary athletic abilities.  Those six primary athletic abilities are flexibility, speed, balance, agility, endurance and core strength.  A good athlete may be competent in three of these primary abilities.  A very good athlete will likely be competent in 4 to 5 primary abilities.  A great athlete must excel in each of these primary abilities or they will not maximize their complete potential.

This program is designed for both individuals and large groups.  Click onto the registration form below to determine which best suits your needs.
