Joe Maher

Joe Maher has been Head Coach of the Guilford High School Boy's Soccer Program since 1994. Mr. Maher attended GHS and played Varsity Soccer from 1966-1969.  In 1969, his team won the Class M State Championship.  He played college soccer at C.W. Post from 1970-1974.  In 1973 and 1974, he was named an All- Metro Conference selection.  He was captain of his soccer team in 1974.  Mr. Maher graduated from Long Island University in 1975 with a B.S. Degree in Physical Education and Health (K-12).  In 1980, he earned an M.S. from Southern Connecticut State University.

Mr. Maher has been a Physical Education/Health Teacher in the Guilford School System since 1978.  He currently teaches at The Melissa Joans' Elementary School.

From 1981-1999 Joe Maher was the Men's Varsity Soccer Coach at the University of New Haven.  His teams were selected for the NCAA Tournament in 1981, 1983, and 1984.  In 1981 and 1984, they were made the New England Collegiate Conference Champions.  In 1984, the team made the NCAA Tournament Final Four.  In 1984, Coach Maher was the NECC College Coach of the Year.  

Mr. Maher has also been involved in coaching for the Guilford Soccer Club.  He coached a number of girls and boys travel teams since 1991.   He has also been involved with soccer camps and clinics.

Andy Raucci, Junior Varsity Coach/Assistant Varsity Coach
Andy Raucci

Coach Raucci is a 1991 graduate of Guilford High School.  He was an honor student and a 4-year starter for both the Guilford High School Varsity Tennis and Soccer Teams. In addition, Coach Raucci was captain of his high school soccer team junior and senior year, and captain of his tennis team in senior year.  His soccer team won the State L Title in 1989, and were Class L Finalists in 1990.  In addition, his soccer team was Shoreline Champions in 1988, 1989, and 1990.  Coach Raucci was named to the All-Shoreline 1st Soccer Team in his Junior and Senior year, and to the All-Shoreline Second Soccer Team his Sophomore year.  He was also named All-Area NH Register 1st Soccer Team his Junior year, and to the the All-State 1st Soccer Team CT Coaches Association his Junior year.  Also in his Junior year, he was ranked the #1 soccer player in the Shoreline Conference.  In 1990, Coach Raucci and tennis partner win the Class L Doubles Tennis Title. 

 Coach Raucci attended Providence College from 1991-1995, and received a B.A. in Sociology.  He is currently employed at GHS in the Technology Department as the Network Technician.   

Coach Raucci has coached the boys soccer team at GHS since 1999 as both the JV Team Coach and Assistant to the Varsity Team Coach.  During this tenure, the soccer team was Class LL Finalists in 1999; Class LL Champions in 2000; Hammonasset Division Champions in 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, and 2009, and SCC Champions in 1999, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2009.

Coach Raucci has also coached the GHS Boys Varsity Tennis Team since 2000.  His team was the Hammonasset Division Champion in 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010.  In addition, his team was Southern CT Division and State Tournament qualifiers every year since 2000 and placed in the top 5 of the state tournament in 2003, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, and 2010.  Coach Raucci was sideliners coach of the year in 2006; The New Haven Register Coach of the Year in 2010, and nominated for CIAC/CHSCA Coach of the year in 2008 and 2009.

Curtis Gullette - Freshman Coach
C. Gullette

Curtis Gullette isĀ  graduate of Guilford High School, class of 2008. He played soccer all four years at GHS, as well as basketball and golf for one season each. While at Guilford High School, the soccer team won 4 regular season Hammonasset Titles (2004-2007) and he was named to the All Hammonasset Team during his sophomore, junior, and senior years. In addition to being named captain of the team in his senior year, he was named to the CT Coaches Association All-State First Team in 2007.

Coach Gullette attended Bryant University from 2008-2012, and received a B.A. in Applied Mathematics and Statistics. He then attended the University of Connecticut from 2012-2013, and received an M.A. in Education. He is currently employed at Old Saybrook High School as a mathematics teacher.
