This was the Tornados first tounament final. We beat Grove City 3-1, lost to Ohio Premier 1-2,and beat the Lady Mustangs 5-1. We played against G.S.E. Cardinals, with the game being tied at the end of regulation. After two 10 minute o.t.'s the score was still tied. The championship was decided in a shoot out with the Cardinals coming out on top. It was a fun experience. WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS by QUEEN Queen City Invitational-2000 Our 1st game in this tournament was against W.U.Flames,we won 4-2. We lost to Cincy Kids Zigs 3-4 and ended the tournament with a 4-2 victory over the Evansville Elite. Buckeye River Classic-2000 We started the tournament with a loss to the Lakota Hurricanes 1-3, but came back strong with a 5-1 victory over the Loveland Crush, and a 3-2 win over PRF Cyclones. We went to the finals and met the Lakota Hurricanes again, it was a good game but Lakota came away with a 2-0 victory. We were runners up, not bad.
The Tornados were awesome in this tournament. We had victories over BSC Sting(5-0),Woodford Extreme(4-0)and the Cincinnati Classic(2-0).The final was against the Grove City Lightning and we won the Championship game 2-1. Corpus Christi Classic-2000 We started the tournament with a 1-1 tie with GSE Cardinals Blue. We had a victory in our next game over Lakota Storm 1-0.Our 3rd game was against another GSE Cardinals team again ending in a 0-0 tie. This put us in the semi finals against GSE Cardinals Silver(we were getting alittle tired of seeing Cardinals by that point!) At the end of regulation the game was tied 1-1. We went to two 10 minute o.t.'s still tied at 1-1. The Cardinals came away with the victory in a 5-4 shoot out. Fall Ball-2000 Our 1st game in this Tournament was against Monfort Heights Lightning(a VERY tough team),they beat us 6-0. Our 2nd game was an equally tough challenge vs Loveland Chargers who we had played in league completions and we had always lost.We gave them a run for their money in this game tieing 1-1. Our last game of the tournament was against WSC Hurricanes and we won 6-0.
Our 1st a game against M.H. Lightning(not a good sign),we lost 5-1,the Lightning won the tournament and the Tornados were the only team able to score on them for the entire weekend. We finished the tournament with 2 victories beating the Lakota Storm 2-1 and the PRF Sting 6-0.
The Tornados came away with the championship at this tournament and were not scored on throughout the entire weekend. We beat the Kolping Bengals 6-0, the Loveland Crush 3-0 and the MIHSC Thunderbolts 2-0. The final game was against the Kolping Bengals who gave us a run for our money, but we came away with the championship with a 1-0 victory.
The Tornados had a great time in our 1st travel tournament. We traveled to Anderson, Ind. We came away with 2 wins and 1 loss. Our loss was to WSC Tsunami an "A" team out of Cinti. They went on to win the tournament. We had a great time though, winning 2 and partying together Queen City Tournament-2001 The Tornados had a very successful tournament coming in at runner-up. Our 1st game was against Northside FC Storm (Columbus, Oh.) with us winning 2-1,the 2nd game was against Town & Country with us winning again 1-0. On Sunday we played WSC Flash ending in a 0-0 tie. The semi final had face Lobos (Detroit, Mi.) with us coming out on top 1-0. Monday had us pitted against MTSC Barracudas for the final. The game was neck and neck ending 0-0 at 1/2 time. The Barracudas were able to score 2 goals in the 2nd 1/2, we had some scoring opportunities but weren't able to capitalize on them. It was a good week end for us. Corpus Christi 2001 We started the tournament against the LSC Hurricanes. They scored mid way through the 1st half. We were able to shut them down for the rest of the game but were not able to put the ball in the net. Our 2nd game was against the FOSC Freedom with us coming out on top 1-0, we just couldn't put it in the net despite us dominating the game. The 3rd game was against GSE Cardinals with the winner moving on to the semi finals. Once again we had many scoring opportunities and only came way with 1 goal. The Cardinals scored 1 goal in the 1st half and another on on a PK in the 2nd half. We were able to score with about 10 minutes to go in the game and kept possession for most of the rest of the game but came up short. It was a frustrating tournament, but we'll use it as a learning experience and move on. The girls played hard in the last game and never gave up, they showed alot of heart. FALL BALL 2001 Our record in this tournament was 1 win and 2 ties. Our first game was against the Lancaster Dynamos(Columbus,Ohio.), with the score ending 0-0. Heather had a great save on a PK to keep us alive. The 1st round ended with all 4 teams in our division tieing. Our next opponent was against FOSC Freedom with us winning 2-1. Going in to Sundays game against WC Vipers we knew we had to win because both teams had identical records with the Vipers ahead by 1 on goal differential. We were able to score 1st, but couldn't hold off the Vipers as they scored the tieing goal late in the 2nd half. We had another exciting(nerve wracking) indirect PK save that we were able to shut them down on. But the Vipers we determined not to lose, they were relentless. The Tornados proved they could play well against tough opponents, because the other three teams in our division are in higher league divisions. We were 1 goal away from going to the championship.
The Tornados blew into Wilder, KY. and came home with the championship 1st game was against the GSE Cardinals with us winning 4-1. We rounded out day 1 defeating the LSO Hornets 2-1. Sunday had us beating the FSC Jaguars 4-0, leading to the championship game against the host team Town and Country , with us coming out on top 1-0. Good tournament!
The last time we were in Wilder, Ky. the weather was beautiful, this time was a different story. It was wet and cold. But the Tornados weathered the weather and had a good tournament coming in runner-up. We started out against the BSC Cheetahs with us winning 2-1, next up was the host team Town & Country with the game ending in a 0-0 tie. Sunday found us matched up against Sycamore Arsenal with the winner of that game moving on to the final. We won 3-1. We played under the lights for the championship against Tennessee Elite, in heart bearking loss 2-1. The Tornados showed alot of heart. 2002 Javanon Invitational This was our 2nd travel tournament. The weather did not cooperate. The tournament was called off after the 1st round. We played the Evansville Lady Blitz, a premier team and held our own, but came up short, losing 4-3. We did have a great time at the hotel though, even though the pool had way too much chlorine, making 2 of our players ill and a few others coming up with rashes and hives. We ate well and partied hard!
Our 1st game was against a tough WC Vipers team, with the score ending in a 2-2 tie. Next up were the Enon Lady Knights, ending up in a 1-1 tie. We had enough with this tie business and beat MIHSC Thunderbolts 3-0, forcing a shoot out between us and the Vipers with identical record, down to goal for and goals against. We won the shoot out 6-5, moving us on to the semi-final against a very tough NSSC Dynamite team. The 1st 1/2 ended with them up 1-0. Shortly into the 2nd half, one of their girls went down injured. After a 30 minute delay waiting for the ambulance to arrive, our emotions caught up with us. They were able to get another 2 goals. But we fought hard and added 1 of our own. It was too little too late, bit the girls never gave up and fought hard to the very end. Good tourney!
We were declared Co-Champions at the weather (lightning) shortened tournament. We played the TCYO Hotshots and tied 2-2, and blew out Oakwood United '89 11-0. The tournament was finally called after waiting 2 & 1/2 hours for the weather to clear. It never did and 3 people were struck by lightning at the complex, we found out later that everyone was all right. It puts things in perspective. 2002 Corpus Chrisi Invitational We knew we were going to have our hands full in this one. Our bracket was VERY tough. We played the Loveland Chargers losing 3-1, followed by the T&C Rising Stars, losing again 3-0. We met the Lakota Hurricanes and fought to a 0-0 tie. T&C ended up winning the tournament over the Sycamore Arsenals 3-1. We had 2 of the 4 teams in our division going to the semi finals, Loveland and T&C.
We had a blast at this tournament,in spite of all the road construction! We started out hot with a 4-0 win over the Elizabethtown Flames, later on Saturday we chalk up another "W" beating the WC Vipers 4-2. Sunday had us matched up agains the SCP Flames (Indiana premier team) with the winner moving on to the finals. It was a good game, but we came up short losing 1-0. SCP won the tournament, beating NSSC Dynamite 2-1.
We went undefeated throughout the weekend, a 4-0 record, bringing home the championship. We scored 8 goals and only gave up one. We had 3 new players start out with us and they fit in perfectly. We also played a new formation, only having 3 practice sessions to learn it. Great way to start the season!!!
The girls really wanted to go back to Anderson,Ind. for this tournament. Good thing we did, they rewarded us with the championship. We came away with a 4-0 record, never getting scored on and scoring 17! We had a great time away from the fields too. Texas RoadHouse will never be the same with 40+ players and fans taking over the joint! The prom that was held at the hotel was memorable, the prom king was the bomb in his orange tux! The parents held a card tourney, with Coach Jan and Beth getting beat badly, I still think Cheryl and Laurie had cards up the sleeves! Alittle money was won on the Preakness pools(one player pool and one parent pool). The long wait between games was fun with brunch and the trip to Putt-Putt and the batting cages and some shopping. The weather looked like rain, but every time we took the field it held off. We BLITZED the Blitz Bash!
Creek Classic 2003
We started this tournament out hot, just like the weather! Our 1st game was against the Blanchester Lady Hurricanes will us coming out on top 10-0 with only 2 subs. Our next game was against the Beechmont Sting, with us holding on to a victory 3-2. Sunday's match was against the LSO Hornets. We needed a win or tie to move on to the finals. We started out slow allowing them to score in the 1st half. We played better in the 2nd half, but they were able to score again with us never finding the back of the net. Corpus Christi Invitational 2003 The Tornados go undefeated in the bracket rounds beating Oakwood united 3-1, MIHSC Thunderbolts 1-0, and the LSO Gators 3-0, taking us to the semi finals. We met up with the Loveland Chargers(premier) losing 3-2, but giving them a run for their money. T&C Cup 2003 We were asked to fill in at this tournament about 1 week before hand. Our 1st game was a Friday night game played under the lights against the Loveland Crush, with us coming out with a 5-0 win. Everyone got to switch positions in the 2nd half. Saturday had us pitted against the Kettering Renegades, winning again with a 7-3 score. Sunday we play 2 games against a premier team, Tipp City Lightning. The 1st game really didn't matter as both teams were in the finals no matter the outcome. But both teams played hard with Tipp City coming out on top 1-0. The final was at 4:30, and both teams came ready for a dog fight. Tipp City was able to score early, but never found the net again. We couldn't put the ball in the net, ending up runner-up in a 1-0 loss. I was very proud of the girls, the Lightning was very physical, some times dirty, especially their mouths. With their coach backing them all the way, within earshot of our bench, telling their girls to "take them out". Nice example... We played true soccer and didn't lower our selves to their level.
A marathon weekend of soccer!!! The Tornados went 3-1 in the Soccer City Holiday Tournament, coming in as runner-up. We were able to beat 3 U15 teams, but lost to the U14 Team Storm, who won the tournament. We had a good time playing in our 1st ever indoor tournament, and got to hang out together which is ALWAYS a good time. We'd like to thank Sam for guest playing with us. Miami Spring Classic 2004
Creek Classic 2004 The last time we played in this tournament, the weather was cold, not this time. Very typical June weather. The Tornados made it to the finals, losing a close one 2-1 to the Enon Lady Knights, in a hotly contested match (weather wise and soccer wise!). The loss in the finals was the 1st loss for the Tornados in the spring 2004 season, breaking the undefeated streak at 13! The team played some very physical teams, many fouls, a lot call and some not, part of the game. The final was an exciting game, close to the final whistle.
Friday, April 14 MASC 2006 United came in as Finalist in this tournament. Preliminary play had us with a 3-0-0 record, scoring 6 goals and allowing none. The Championship game had us paired against MTSC Sting/United. We scored 1st, Sting tied it up and then took the win off of a PK. Stephanie H and Tiffani were both voted "Player of the Match" by our opposing coaches, both girls getting this honor for 2 games each. Thursday, June 1 Kolping Seth Thomas Memorial 2006 We had a record of 2 wins and 1 loss in this tournament. We won our 1st game against SOSA 2-0, lost to the Kolping Zigs 3-0, and won our last game against Dayton Spirit 3-0. Sunday, June 4 Creek Classic 2006 We came out of this tournament with a 1-1-1 record, playing out off the top bracket. Our 1st game was against SOSA, with us coming our on top 6-0. We met up with the Ohio Galaxies Elite next and lost 1-0. This game was proof that we can play with some of Ohio's finest. Our last game was against Gateway Sports Park ending in a 2-2 tie. We lost 3-1 to them last year. This tournament will help us prove that we deserve the recognition of a premier squad. Monday, May 21 MASC 2007 One more time, we go to the "Ship" and lose 2-1. We started out hot against NKSL winning 7 to 2. Next up was Elite FC, with us winning 2-0. Sunday had us slotted against Lakota United Premire, another 2-0 win. The championship match was against STAR Fire. It was a great game, with them getting the winning goal with less than 3 minutes left in regulation. Would have been nice to play the game at full stregnth, but you play with the cards that are dealt to you. |
