Welcome to the website of the H.S.A. Grizzlies Girls Soccer Club. We're from the Burien/West Seattle area, and played for the West Highline Soccer Club in the Highline Soccer Association in the State of Washington, USA. We played in District 3. All our girls are now Seniors in college doing quite well. Keeping this site up so they can relive the great years of soccer they played.

Carly Henley - 7.30.1990 - 10.6.2010

One of our dear friends and former Grizzly defender passed from this world 10.6.2010.  Carly was a talented athlete but her true passion was her music.  She performed at many locations in Burien, the Hard Rock and at the UW where she had just started her Junior year as a member of the Delta Gamma sorority.  She will be missed by all of us.  Rest in peace Carly.

For more about Carly, her music and talented family see The Carly Henly Project.

West Highline Co-Coach of the Year

Thanks to all of you Grizzlies, fans and parents who voted for coach Mark for West Highline's coach of the year.  The guys of the U18 Cowbows had the same thing in mind when they also cast their votes.  Mark and April (Cowboys coach) shared the honor in this their last year with their teams.  The presenter at the awards ceremony commented on the Grizzlies success of each of the girls in making their high school teams in multiple sports, for sticking together and playing very competitively.  This is a great tribute to cap off many successful seasons together, but mostly to the fun we've had and friendships we've created.

Grizzlies in High School State Playoffs

Fall 2007 Season: Once again, our Grizzlies played on the best high school teams in the state in Soccer and Volleyball. Our newest Grizzly, Alina, scored goals to advance her Holy Names team further into the playoffs. They finished the season with 4th in State. For Kennedy, Tracy and Maggie finished 5th in the state for the second straight season getting knocked out only by the eventual undefeated State Champs. Highline's, Maddie, Julia's and Carly, still made playoffs after losing most of their dominate players from the 2006. The three were on the starting line up and ensured a respectable finish and a berth into the district playoffs. Quite a few former Grizzlies on that Highline team too! Marisa and Ashley completed their Volleyball State Championship Tournament in 7th place. Former Grizzly, Jill S., and our favorite guest player, played for Mt. Rainier as their starting keeper and took her team into the second round of the state playoffs.

Spring 2007: Tracy and Maggie's Fastpitch team from Kennedy HS took the state Championship. Congrats to them and to Maggie for making first team all league in center field.
Spring 2008: JFK repeats as Fastpitch State Champions. Maggie once again was all state centerfield and team captain. Tracy caught the final out of the tournament to seal the win in Right Field.

From the fall 2006 season: Tracy's JFK team finished 5th in the state. Maddie and Julia's Highline team made it to the second round in the state playoffs. Carolann's Mount Rainier team made playoffs too. AND a special congrats to Marisa and Ashley who's only loss came in the State Championship Volleyball match so they took second place in state.
