Grimes Softball Association: Code of Conduct
ALL PARTICIPANTS CODE OF CONDUCT “Participant” may be a coach, player, a family member, or a spectator. No Participant during a GRIMES SOFTBALL ASSOCIATION activity (including games, practices, or try-outs) shall demonstrate or engage in unsportsmanlike conduct or engage in, or be involved in, any conduct which is detrimental to the high conduct expected of all participants.
Conduct during a GRIMES SOFTBALL ASSOCIATION activity which shall be considered to be unsportsmanlike and detrimental to the sport includes, but is not limited to the following:
1. Abusive or profane language, actions, or conduct directed against any official, Participant, or Participant of the opposing team.
2. Conduct or actions which may be immoral, illegal or offend a reasonable person.
3. Conduct or actions which reflect unfavorably or which discredit the GRIMES SOFTBALL ASSOCIATION. Such conduct or actions will not be tolerated or condoned. Violations of the above will subject the Participant to appropriate action by the Board, an umpire, or an official of the GRIMES SOFTBALL ASSOCIATION. Such action may include a warning or ejection of the Participant from the game or facility.
Repeated offenses of the Code of Conduct may result in the termination of the Participant’s right to be involved in the GRIMES SOFTBALL ASSOCIATION activities for an undetermined period of time.
COACHES CODE OF CONDUCT
RESPONSIBLE TEAM OFFICIAL
1. The Head Coach shall have complete responsibility for the conduct and activities of his/her team and shall be held accountable for the team and players.
2. All persons charged with the responsibility for a team must be familiar with the league and ASA rules and comply with the provisions set forth.
3. The individuals responsible for a team shall ensure that the following coaching ethics are adhered to at all times:
• Will not criticize players in front of spectators, but reserve constructive criticism for private, or in the presence of the team.
• Will accept decisions of umpires on the field as being fair and called to the best ability of the umpires. • Will not criticize the umpires.
• Will encourage participation in both recreational and tournament programs. Foster a cooperative attitude with other coaches to assist players who would choose to participate in both.
4. Coaches will be responsible for addressing Participant’s unsportsmanlike conduct.
