Greenway Little League: Welcome
TEAMS
Jerseys, hats and socks have been ordered. This year we have gone with jerseys instead of t-shirts to help the boys feel more like ball players. Jerseys will have to be returned at the end of the year. Due to the added cost to purchase jerseys, we ask that all parents supply a black belt and white baseball pants for their player(s). We require that jerseys ONLY be worn at games, parents will be billed $30 for lost or damaged jerseys. Damage happening at a game will be excused. We will not have town names on the jerseys. The LaPraire area will be the Lightning and will be in green, the Bovey/Coleraine area will be the Bulldogs in maroon, and the Taconite area, of course, will be the Hornets in blue. There are no Minors/Majors teams in Pengilly this year but in the future they will be the Panthers in red. We found out back in the old days Pengilly had a high school and they were the Panthers. The Juniors teams will be Greenway West (Bovey field) and Greenway East (Pengilly field) and both will be in green with an east and west designation on jersey.
HELP!!!!!! LATE REGISTRATION
Even though the scheduled registration nights are over it is NOT to late to register. Our numbers are way down from last year. If you know a boy that has played, or not, please encourage them to sign up. The 2013 registration forms are available in the Handout section. All the forms are interactive so you can fill them out online and print them or save them to your computer to fill out and print. You may register by mailing to GLL, PO Box 533, Bovey, MN 55709 or call Dan Trombly @ 244-8776 for the forms and information. Registration cost is $92 for the 1st player. If you have 2 players the cost is $174. If you have more than 2 players each additional player is $72. Make checks payable to Greenway Little League. $52 of the cost for registration is for the candy bar fundraiser. We are once again giving away prizes to the top 3 sellers. 1st prize is 4 Twins tickets, 2nd prize is Dinner and Bowling and 3rd prize is a Little League hoodie. If you need financial help please contact us. We want all children to have the opportunity to play. We are looking forward to the summer baseball season.

The little league board has been discussing the possibility of running baseball farther into the summer. In the past, parents have asked quite often as to why summer ball is so short. The biggest reason is the district tournaments come in the middle of July and coaches and players selected for the tournament team concentrate their attention on the tournament. The board is looking at taking a break for the tournament and resuming the season right after the district tournament. If one of our tournament teams advance to State or beyond we will continue the season and work through it. An end time has been tossed around for sometime around mid August. This will give a couple weeks off before football starts. Family vacations can be worked around without a problem. The board feels it is best to keep the children active throughout the summer. We are looking for input on this from parents so please contact us and let us know your thoughts.
