Thanks to Elm Street Park Staff
The note below was posted on the Goodlettsville (TN) Little League website about their experience at the 2011 TOSC.

The Goodlettsville 11 year old all-star team would like to thank the Elm Street Park staff for a wonderful week of baseball and hospitality. Your dedication to the game has no equal and it was an honor to step foot on your field and to be in your presence for the entire week. Our three plus hour rain delay versus Virginia on day two was a small example of your dedication to this tournament and a credit to your field as well and I firmly believe that no field in Nashville or Goodlettsville would have been able to hold a game after the downfall we experienced. My hat is off to Brian and his family as well as my buddy, “I know you,” who was a joy to see each day. Thanks for the online interview my man! Here’s hoping we cross paths again with the fine people of Elm Street Park as Goodlettsville baseball will definitely benefit from the experience. God Bless.

See What They Said About the 2010 Tournament of State Champions Held at Elm Street Park.

LETTER BELOW WAS E-MAILED TO GREENVILLE LITTLE LEAGUES ON DECEMBER 6, 2010.

Congratulations on getting the tournament for next year.  It is very well deserved.  Our team continues to talk about the experience we had in Greenville.  The adults refer to the tournament as the time of our lives.  We are not sure the boys yet understand the true significance of the experience.  But we are confident over time they will gain the same appreciation we have.    The field is simply one of a kind.  It is easy to see the heart and soul put into Elm Street Park.  We are so glad other young ballplayers from the southeast will have the same opportunity we had.  It is certainly a treasured memory for all of us.

You mentioned in your letter to Jen the luck or fate (as we like to refer) in us even arriving in Greenville.  For our boys and parents the opportunity to compete in the tournament was a blessing.  The real gift though was competing in the tournament on that field…..I can’t thank you enough for having our team from Maitland there.

Sincerely, Larry Leftwich, Manager, Maitland, Florida All Stars

FROM THE THURSDAY, AUGUST 6, 2009 EDITION OF THE DAILY REFLECTOR

Letter:  City's support of Little League 'legendary'

As a participant in the 10-11 Little League State Championships held in Greenville last week, I wanted to publicly say thank you to the Greenville community, and in particular Brian Weingartz and his staff, for putting on such a wonderful event.

From the Friday night cookout to the immaculately maintained field and park, the event was first class and the kids felt like big leaguers.  After we were eliminated, my son walked out of the stadium backwards and asked me if I thought he would ever play again in a stadium as nice as Elm Street.

Greenville's support of Little League Baseball is legendary around the state.  We thoroughly enjoyed our time in your community.

HOSPITALITY AT TOURNEY APPRECIATED - The Daily Reflector, July 31, 2007

Many thanks to all of the sponsors and volunteers that dedicated time and resources to host an outstanding 11-12 year old Little League tournament at Elm Street Park.  My son represented District 1, Rutherfordton Little League.  The hospitality extended to our team greatly exceeded my expectations.

You have a beautiful park facility, and you provided many extra amenities that added a special touch to a very special time in the life of a young ball player.  You are to be commended on the souvenir booth, photography options, excellent announcers and family dinner, along with the opening ceremonies.  You have a facility to be very proud of, and your kindness to your visitors was greatly appreciated.

 PAM TOMERLIN, Rutherfordton

HOSPITALITY AT LITTLE LEAGUE EVENT LAUDED - The Daily Reflector, August 2, 2007

The 11-12 year old Little League All Star team from Boone was fortunate to have played for the North Carolina Little League Championship.  While the scores did not go our way, our experience in Greenville was of championship caliber.

Elm Street Park is a special place for youngsters to play a special game.  The hosts of the tournament were exactly that, hosts.  The hospitality extended to the players and families was extraordinary.  The generosity of the sponsors was commendable and noted as we sought locations to shop and dine.  I wish for all those involved with this event to know that you efforts were noticed and appreciated.  Should we return in the near future, we promise to bring another supply of cooler weather!

JONATHAN MILLER, Boone

LOCAL LEAGUE AND EXCELLENT TOURNEY HOST - The Daily Reflector, September 3, 2007

I would like to thank the Greenville Little Leagues for doing such an outstanding job hosting the Little League State 11-12 year old baseball tournament.

Our hats are off to Elizabeth Floyd and her team for running an outstanding tournament.  They made every team feel welcomed.

This was our first visit to Elm Street Park.  We were so impressed with the park.  It has to be one of the top Little League baseball parks in the state.  You shoud be very proud of Elm Street Park.  Brian Weingartz the tournament director and his staff did an outstanding job on the field.

To the city, thanks for the Web cams.  Our friends and family that could not make the trip got to watch on the Web cams.

You had two very classy teams and parents representing Greenville in Greenville North State and Greenville Tar Heel.  Great Job!
