Greensox End of Season Update

The Greensox finished their 2009 season the same way they started, with a tournament second day rainout.  The typical trifecta of powerful pitching, dazzling defense, and an offense that sooner or later wakes up and knocks the laces off the baseball helped Greensox win all three of their games on the first day of the Lacey Awards NW Championship Tournament at the Thurston County Regional Athletic Complex in Lacey the weekend of September 5-6, 2009.  The trio of wins gave the Greensox top seeding going into Sunday action.  But then Sunday morning brought a deluge not seen since the days when Methuselah walked the earth...and the tournament was cancelled.

During the 2009 baseball season the Greensox faced 53 different teams in 73 tournament and Sandy Koufax league games.  The Greensox lost only 10 games and won 63 for a winning percentage of 0.863.  Along the way they captured five tournament championships, two tournament second place finishes, one tournament third place finish, and a first place finish in the Sandy Koufax league.  The Greensox outscored their opponents 628 to 226.  Since the team's first year as 10U in 2006, they have recorded 163 wins and 34 losses for a winning percentage of 0.824.

New Greensox Survey!!

Greensox Survey #22
1) What did you like best about the 2009 season?
   Winning lots of games
Winning the Sandy Koufax State Tournament
   Facing some pretty good teams
2) Which was your favorite tournament this past season?
   CanAm Classic
   Varsity Pre-Season
   Sandy Koufax State Tournament
   BPA July Classic
   Triple Crown Tri-Cities
3) Before some of our home games at Brannan Park, Coach Z dragged the field using his own car. To show their appreciation all of the players should:
   Shake Coach Zimmerman's hand
   Offer to wash his car
Offer to wash and wax his car
Make the offer, but then hang out with Brandon
4) At one of the games Coach Morgan is rumored to have showed up at the game wearing two different pairs of shoes. To prevent this from happening again next season players should:
Explain to Coach that his shoes should match
Recommend a good therapist or doctor
Laugh at Coach and take pictures
5) Now that the season is over, what are you looking forward to most about returning to train with Coach Embery?
That funky music that he plays all of the time
All of the neat exercises he makes us do
When our parents make us stop playing basketball
   Iron Mike
