Alan
ALAN ASHKINAZY is the owner and founder of the Greensboro Batting Center. Alan grew up playing baseball on the streets of Queens, NY where he developed an uncanny enthusiasm for the game and a hard-nosed will to be the best. After his high school career, Alan played out a four-year full scholarship at New York Institute of Technology, where he won the Nation's stolen base title over Vince Coleman!!! Alan was drafted by and signed with the Boston Red Sox. He spent most of his pro career in Greensboro, NC playing for the Greensboro Hornets. With the Hornets, Alan once again set a franchise record for stolen bases. He was a 2-time all-star for the Hornets. Shortly after Alan's pro career had ended, he decided to follow his dream of building an indoor training facility for kids and adults of all ages to enjoy. The Greensboro Batting Center is this dream realized. Alan establised the Batting center in 1986, in a 3500 square foot warehouse, where he began building towards what is now a state of the art 28,000 square foot facility in Greensboro, NC. Alan is regarded by many as the top hitting instructor in the area. Alan currently coaches at Smith High School. He coached At Greensboro Day School from 1990-93. He also coached at the Mustang level (9-10yrs), where he led the team to two World Series berths, and Palomino level (17-18yrs), where he led APWU to a World Series Championship in 1994.
