Green Hope strands 11 loses 6-3 to Lee County
Green Hope missed getting the big hit inning after inning in their contest against Lee County. This was an opponent that two weeks earlier Green Hope beat 11-1. Today they got beat 6-3.
They fell behind 3-0 in the top of the first when Lee County got a one out walk, a steal of second, a single, and a bases clearing triple, before scoring the third run on a infield out.
Green Hope came right back in the bottom of the first and scored one run, but should have had more. With one out Will Yoder single to left, and David Josam pinch ran and stole second. Joe Pistacchio followed with a walk, but Josam was throw out stealing third with one out. Pistaccio moved to second on Adam Baghosian's single and stole third. Daniel Sondag walked. All the base runners moved up on a wild pitch with Pistaccio scoring. The inning ended with a pop up to the pitcher.
Will Yoder settled down after the first inning and had no more than one base runner on at any time through the fifth inning.
Green Hope stranded two runners in the second. Brian Wnzinger had a one out single and moved to third on Andrew Wilson single. Andrew stole second, but both were left there on a pop up to short and a strikeout looking.
In the third Joe Pistaccio led off with a walk. After a fly out to centerfield, Daniel Sondag singled. Both runners moved up a base on a double steal, but the next hitter struck out, before Nick Addona was hit by a pitch to load the bases. All three runners were stranded on a pop out to second.
Green Hope fianlly pushed a couple of runs across the plate in the 4th inning, but could of had more if not for some bad baserunning. Andrew Wilson led off with a walk and Zach Munz ran for him and was promptly picked of first. Jonathan Grudee followed with a walk, and Will Yoder singled him to second. After a line out to centerfield Adam Baghosian doubled in Grudee and on the play to get Yoder at third, the ball got past the third basemen which allowed Yoder to score. Adam was left in scoring position on a fly out to centerfield to end the 4th.
