Sondag excels on mound - defeats Cary 5-2
Daniel Sondag pitched a five inning masterpiece, allowing 2 unearned run on 5 hits, 3 K's, 2 BB's and 2 HBP. He allowed no runs until the fourth, after Green Hope had built a 4-0 lead. Daniel could have gotten into trouble in the third after a double error put the lead off man at second, but Jonathan Grudee and Daniel promptly worked a nifty pickoff move and the runner was gone. The next hitter singled, but Nick Addona threw him out stealing. Daniel walked the third batter in the inning, but got the number nine man to pop up to second baseman Brian Wenzinger to end the exciting inning.
On the offensive side of things, Brian Wenzinger got the Falcons on the board in the bottom of the first with a one out walk, a steal of second base and Adam Baghosian's RBI single.
Green Hope increased the lead to 2-0 in the second on Daniel Sondag's lead off single, Andrew Wilson's sacrifice bunt, and Jason Reiter's two out single.
Green Hope increased the lead to 4-0 in the third on Jonathan Grudee's one out single, his steal of second base, Brendon Lynch was hit by a pitch with two out, putting runners at 1st and 2nd. Daniel Sondag drove in Jonathan with his single to centerfield, and Brendon scored when the centerfield's throw got past the thirdmen, trying to throw Brendon going from 1st to 3rd on the single.
Cary pushed an unearned run across in the 4th on a one out infield error, a sacrifice bunt and Tyler Amick's two double. Cary closed their scoring out in the fifth on a lead off single by Jeremy Harris, he stole second and then Daniel hit Tommy Robinson for the second time on the day to put runners at first and second with no outs. They loaded up the bases with no out on another infield error. Daniel then went to work striking out the cleanup hitter, inducing a grounder back to the mound, that produced a run, and a pop up to first basemen Max Povse.
Green Hope pushed a run across the plate in the 5th on Adam Baghosian's one single, his second hit of the game. He promptly stole second and was driven in on Priyank Purohit's single to left. Tim Seipler added a single to center before the inning and game ended.
