David Josam hits Homerun, not enough, Green Hope falls 6-4
David Josam hits a two run home run, over the left center field fence, in the 6th to pull Green Hope closer at 6-3, but it was not enough. Green Hope mounded another threat in the bottom of the seventh, but could get no closer than 6-4.
In a game that started yesterday afternoon and was suspended after one inning, continued today under threatening skies.
After falling behind 1-0 in the first, Green Hope tied the score up when Brian Wenzinger reached first on a one out error by the third basemen, moved up to second on a wild pitch and scored on a single to center by Andrew Wilson.
Apex took a 2-1 lead in the 3rd on Sean Buchanan's solo homer to left. Max Povse, whom started yesterday and continued his mound appearance today, gave up an unearned run in the 4th when the lead off man reached on an infield error, stole second and scored on a two out single.
Max Povse was chased in the 5th after giving up a lead off single, followed by an infield error, a sacrifice bunt that moved the runners up to second and third, and an intentional base on balls, Ben Scerri drove in two runs with a single. Will Yoder came on in relief, and after another infield error, the inning was ended with a catch by Brendon Lynch and his throw home to double up the runner that tagged at third.
Apex took a 6-1 led in the sixth on back to back two out doubles by Buchanan and Edwards.
Green Hope cut the led to 6-3 in the sixth on Will Yoder's single and Josam's two run homer.
Green Hope mounted a serious threat in the 7th on Jason Reiter's infield single, Nick Addona's ground single to left, and Jonathan Grudee's superb bunt single up the third base line, loaded the bases with no outs. Will Yoder drove in Reiter on his line single to left, but Addona was thrown out at home trying to score from second. After a force out grounder, the game ended with a Green Hope runner getting thrown out at third on a curve ball in the dirt, that didn't get far enough away from the catcher.
