Team advances to Semi-finals at Challenge Cup
The girls had a great weekend, winning their bracket at Challenge Cup.  The girls looked strong in the first game against Center Grove and came out with a 2-0 win.  The girls had another shut-out, playing Fusion and winning 5-0.  Sunday afternoon proved a bit more difficult against Junior Irish ending in a 1-1 tie, giving the girls enough points to win the bracket and advancing to the semi-finals in Westfield in 2 weeks.

Tough weekend at Louisville Cup

Our team started with a great day of soccer on Saturday with 2 wins.  In the first game of the tournament and the season, the team beat the home team of Hilliard FC.  "Tee", Cassidy and Sarah each had a goal.  The defense played a great game only allowing one goal from the opposing team causing the game to end with a score of 3-1.  The next game was against Nelson Co Laser from Bardstown, KY.  Our girls again played a top notch game, winning 4-1 with Tenee, Cassidy, Bailey and Sarah each putting one in the net.  Our defense was on their best allowing only one goal.  The team had a tough game Sunday morning against GFC Arsenal from Columbus, OH playing in the rain and mud.  Tenee scored 2 for WSU but Arsenal was able to put 4 in the net, causing a tough loss for Westside.

Undefeated in League Play
The Westside United Green '97 Girls go undefeated in regular season league play.  We played in the AAA division in the GIRLS league for Central Indiana. It was a fanstastic season of soccer for this team.  They came together in spite of some adverse situations to go 10 and 0. This division has some great competition.  The games were most defintely not easy wins.  All the girls stepped up to make this happen for their team.  Keep checking back for more fall info.  We are looking forward to Fall '08.

Great Weekend at Murray Cup in Carmel

What a great weekend of very competitive soccer.  We started the weekend against carmel.  Even though we did not win we held them to a 2-1 game.  They girls played well.  Our second game was against Ohio Premier and they were a really good team.  Our girls were first to score and the last to give up.  The game ended in a 1-1 tie.  The third game was again Warren County team also from Ohio.  While this was a good game the ohio team proved to be very physical causing several players to go down.  Not giving up our girls pushed on to a 2-0 win.  Proving that skills will win everytime.  Way to go.  After the win we advanced to the Quarter finals.  We played a Kansas City MO team that absolutely came to win.  They were a very good team.  We held them 0-0 until the last 2 minutes of the game.  It was a fantastic game to watch.  The girls proved that they could come up against some really competitive teams and succeed.  This was a great weekend to see what we were made of.  I for one am very proud of your performance.  You gals are tops in my book!!!!! WAY TO GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WSU Green '97 Girls Win Mockingbird Invitational in a Shut Out Weekend

What a great competitive weekend of soccer.  The first game was against Zionsville the score was 6-0.  The goals scored were: Tenee Allen with 1, Cassidy Blacha with 2, Alex Neuman had a breakaway shot for 1, Audrey Poteet had a great PK for 1 and unfortunately for Zionsville, they put one in our net on our corner kick. The second game was against Thoroughbread Soccer Club with a score of 2-0.  The first goal was by Tenee Allen and the second by Cassidy Blacha.  The third game was against Javanon and this was a very competitive game with a score of 1-0.  The only goal scored was by Cassidy Blacha.  The fourth and final game was against the host club Mockingbird.  The score of this game was 2-0.  The first goal was by Tenee Allen and the second was another great PK by Audrey Poteet.  There was a third goal scored by Mac Hall, but the ref said Mac was offsides. Great job Mac we know you were onsides.  Lauren Cox played 7 of the 8 halves in goal and  with the help of a fantastic defense, Mel McHenry, Suzy Gatons, Tenee Allen, Cassidy Blacha, Mac Hall, Alex Neuman, Madison Miller and Bailee Storms, Lauren had a shut out weekend.  Audrey Poteet played the second half of the final game in goal and continued our shutout.  Kayla Young and Angela Barnett also had a great weekend.  They really stepped up their game and were winning balls, pressuring players, and connecting great passes. Way to go Westside.  This was truly a team weekend.

Thanks to all the parents who helped out with the Haunted House at the hotel.  It was a lot of fun for the girls.  A special thanks to Marsha McHenry for the use of so much Halloween decorations.  How awesome to turn a 165 square foot hotel room into a haunted house.  This was a great idea from Coach Dale.

End of Spring 2007 Season
Another season has come and gone. We had a great season. We had great games and not so great games. We finished our season on a high note, by winning Libertyville Cup in Libertyville Illinois. We were the only team in our age group with a shut out weekend. We went undefeated in Dynamo Round Robin and won 2 out of 3 in the MASC cup in Fairfield Ohio. Our regular season was a 6-4. Not bad. We are looking forward to the Fall 2007 season. Keep checking back updates on our Fall season as well as some activities we will be doing. Have a great summer!!!!

WSU Green '97 Wins Libertyville Cup in a Shut Out Weekend
WOW!! What a weekend of great soccer. The girls went 4-0 with no goals scored against them. The girls played absolutely fantastic. It was a great end to a great season. The scores were as follows: 1-0, 6-0, 1-0, and 6-0. The only team in the 24 team U-10 age group not to allow a goal!! Way to go Westside

Monday, April 23
MASC Fairfield Ohio
We played in the MASC in Fairfield Ohio April 21 and 22. We won 2 and lost 1. While we did not get to advance to the finals we did have a great weekend of soccer. We played some very good teams. This was by far one of the most competitive tournaments we have played in. The format was 8v8 instead of our usual 6v6. The field was much larger than we are used to also. Even though there were some differences our girls stepped up and played their absolute best. This tournament also had a cool spin. Each coach was given 3 player of the match passes to pass out to a player that stood out on the opposing team. On our team Lauren Cox received it in the first game and Tenee Allen-Harris received in the second and third games. Congrats to both girls.   We look forward to our next great tournament in Libertyville Illinois over Memorial Day weekend. Keep checking back for scores and updates on this fantastic group of girls.

What a weekend. The girls played very well. We came home champions at the VIT in Evansville Indiana. The girls won all four games. Check out the scores on our scores page. It was a lot of fun. The girls received lots of compliments on their talent and ability. Cassidy Blacha, Mac Hall and Olivia Warren got the opportunity to see how the goalie lives. Each one had a smile on her face a mile long.

This has been a great season. With tournaments and regular season play the team went 24 wins, 4 losses and 1 tie. Not a bad season at all. See you in March!! GO WESTSIIIDE!!!!!
