The Great Lakers 55's, went undefeated Saturday and Sunday morning through the seating round, soundly defeating the Medical Miracles, Ohio Cardinals, Capital Area Classics, and Gray Power...in bracket play Sunday afternoon, they defeated the Miracles on the way to the finals against the Capitals...persistent rain/hail and lightening finally stopped play before a complete game could be finished, both teams were declared co-champions...
On Saturday, the Great Lakers 50's, also drenched by on and off again showers at the other end of Niagara Falls Optimist Park, lost their first morning game in the round robin round to the West Michigan Storm, 4-1...they then went on in the afternoon to easily defeat the Motown Stars and Sportaculars...Sunday, the 1:30pm bracket game against Motown was delayed to almost 3:30 by rain, ...once play finally got underway with infield conditions described by those playing as "quicksand, slippery mud, and deep puddles", Motown never lead, going down to defeat by 5 runs...With more rain/hail and lightening threating in the west, the final game was started against West Michigan, only 1/2 inning was completed before the lightening and then heavy rain ended play for the day...both teams were declared co-champions...
