GAA BASKETBALL WILL STILL OFFER A RECREATIONAL DIVISION THAT WILL ASSEMBLE PLAYERS THROUGH A DRAFT SYSTEM.

All players selecting the recreational division, new and returning, will be required to attend the GAA Basketball Evaluation Day on either,

Oct. 21st, or Oct. 24th.

A complete schedule with dates and times will be sent in a separate email.

This is a day for players to show off their skills, and an opportunity for coaches to evaluate players in a specific age group prior to the draft.

Coaches will draft teams the following week.

All Coaches (Head coaches and Assistants) must submit the required registration form to be approved by the GAA Basketball Committee.

Once approved, Head Coaches are able to select one Assistant Coach under the following restrictions:

  • Head Coaches in the 1st year of a new age group, or new coaches to GAA, will be allowed to select one Assistant and start a team with their 2 children. All other players must be selected through the draft. You will have the option to remain together the following year.
  • Coaches returning for the 2nd year of a particular age group will be allowed to protect returning players. All other players must be drafted. If the Head Coach loses his/her Assistant, a new Assistant must be chosen from returning parents or drafted parents. Coaches will not be allowed to recruit a parent whose child played on another team in the same age group, nor can a coach recruit a parent whose child is moving into the age group to become an Assistant. Younger players moving into the older age group cannot join an existing team unless they are drafted to that team. If the Head Coach of a 2nd year team does not return to coach, the Assistant Coach has the option of taking over the team.
  • Head Coaches and Assistant Coaches children must attend the Player Showcase or will not be eligible to be protected.
  • Players must declare their desire to “play up” prior to the draft. A player will not be allowed to “play up” once drafted. Players will not be allowed to play in 2 different age groups in the rec. league, even if they are willing to pay to play in both leagues.
  • Any player wishing to play in the “Bring Your Own Team” division may also play in the “rec. division”. This player must register, and pay an extra $50 fee, to play in both leagues.

GAA School Gym Conflicts

As everyone knows, GAA Basketball is reliant on area Williamson County schools for use of their gymnasiums. Occasionally, school activities and functions coincide with GAA practices. By working more closely with each school this year, we are identifying, in advance, dates that use of certain school gyms will be impacted.

Good Sportsmanship goes a Long Way

Parents, players and coaches. Please be very respectful of school property when practicing or on game day.

Please don't allow siblings to run thru the school halls. Please keep them with you inside the gym at all times. Thanks.

To see your team's schedule or any other team, just click "Teams" from the menu bar above then choose the appropriate division/team. Once on your team's website, just click on "Schedules" or "Calendar" to see the full schedule!
