Senior A Gold Medallists - 2009
The Panthers have won the GOLD medal at the Senior A Provincials in Edmonton, March 6-8. They will now advance to the Western Canadian Shield in Calgary, representing Alberta!!

The Grande Prairie Panthers won their second straight Western Canadian Shield Championship in Dauphin, Manitoba this past week.
Details to follow April 17th.

Senior A Provincial Tournament - Black Diamond, AB - March 5-7th
March 5 - Wabamun Ladyhawks(4) vs Grande Prairie Panthers(2)
The Panther came out sleepy and played a poor defensive game. Nicole Klassen and Amber Prior scored for GP. Much like how we started out last years provincials....too much like last year... MVP-Nicole Klassen.
March 6- Grande Prairie Panthers(2) vs Calgary Canadians(0)
Panthers getting back on track with a great defensive effort from Rikki Weiss and Nicole Klassen who each scored in the first period to make it 2-0 which held up until the end. Cathy Garrett got the shutout. MVP- Rikki Weiss
March 6 - Grande Prairie Panthers(5) vs Calgary Mighty Ducks(1)
Ducks got into penalty trouble throughout this game which the Panthers capitalized on getting 3 power play goals. Salene Young in goals for the Panthers played a great game making key saves when the Panthers most needed them. Mona Diebert and Nicole Klassen each scored twice while Amber Prior scored once. MVP - Hobbitt Line - Mona Diebert, Jodi Funk and Carolyn Chenard.
March 7 -Semifinal- Irma Grizzlies (0) vs Grande Prairie Panthers (3)
A tough hard fought match between the Irma team and Grande Prairie. Lots of shots both ways as the game was held close. It was 1-0 after one period on a goal by Jodie Carpenter. In the second perion Rikki Weiss scored which was promptly answered by an Irma goal one minute later. In the dying seconds of the third, Carolyn Chenard buried an empty net goal to secure the win. MVP - Cathy Garrett
March 7 -Gold Medal - Grande Prairie Panthers (3) vs Wabamun Ladyhawks (1)
The Panthers came more prepared to this game after their performance against them in the first round robin game. Panther forwards kept the puck in Wabamun's end a good majority of the game. Nicole Klassen and Jodi Funk each scored in the second period to give the Panthers a 2-0 lead. Amber Prior got the empty net goal to make it a 3-0 win. MVP - Nicole Klassen
GRANDE PRAIRIE PANTHERS ADVANCE TO THE WESTERN CANADIAN SHIELD TO BE HELD IN DAUPHIN, MANITOBA APRIL 8-11TH.

Panther Alumni News
Stephanie Jones now plays for Team Canada's Under 22 Team. She plays hockey for Mercyhurst in the USA and is an instructor in the High Tempo Hockey School.
Christina Sharun who formerly played with the panthers is now playing for Yale University.
Gina Schmidt also formerly of the Panthers is a member of Team Canada's National Volleyball Team.
Kaye London played for the University of Alberta Pandas.
Danielle Mazurek is an instructor in Olana Vigen's Classic Edge.
If you are a former Panther or you know of a former Panther who has moved on to bigger (but not necessarily better things :) please let me know! Thanks.
Provincials 2003
The NAFHA league hosted the 2003 Provincials in Spruce Grove this year. The results are as follows:

World Masters Games 2005

Congratulations to the World Masters Games 2005 women's hockey team in the 30+ A age category. The PCFHL Stars which contained 5 Panthers (Cathy Garrett, Lori Kercher, Amber Prior and Debbie White and Coach Colleen Scarlett) earned a silver medal at these games.
The PCFHL Stars was made up of ladies from 7 of the 10 teams that play in the Peace Country Female Hockey League.
