Welcome to the Grand Prairie Girls Softball Association!

(GPGSA) was formed in 1973 to provide girls in Grand Prairie and surrounding cities with a safe and organized environment to learn how to play softball in a recreational atmosphere. Leagues are formed for girl’s ages 3years old thru 17 year olds.

(GPGSA) offers both spring and fall seasons. The spring season, generally begins in early March to late May. The fall season, generally begins in early September to late October.

Teams play 10 to 12 games throughout a season, usually 2 games a week. Games are generally played on a specific weeknight, and do not start before 6PM or later than 8PM. Game times vary by age group with the younger girls playing the earlier games. Practice days and times are determined by each team’s head coach. Teams are encouraged to have two planned activities (practices and/or games) each week. Coaches generally consult with parents regarding practice days and times.

(GPGSA) is happy to announce the return of “BLAST BALL” for the 3 and 4 year old boys or girls. Blast Ball is an excellent introductory game for T-Ball and fastpitch softball. It allows for more action for a youngsters short attention span. More kids get to be involved which helps them retain interest in T-Ball and softball concepts. The game is safe and uses a foam bat and ball with no gloves required. Blast Ball teaches the basic T-Ball and softball fundamentals of hitting, throwing, and fielding while emphasizing the importance of teamwork and sportsmanship.

More kids get to be involved which helps them retain interest in t-ball and softball concepts. The game is safe and uses a foam bat and ball with no gloves required. Blastball teaches the basic T-ball and softball fundamentals of hitting, throwing, and fielding while emphasizing the importance of teamwork and sportsmanship.

Players Age:
- Must be 3 or 4 years old as of January 1st of this year.

- Playing field will consist of 1st base loaded with a horn, home plate where batter will hit from a "tee" and all defensive players will line up at least 40 feet away from home plate.
- Any ball hit 10 feet from home plate or past the fair ball marker will be considered a fair ball and the batter shall advance to 1st base.
- 1st base will be set at a distance of 50 feet from home plate.
Equipment:
- Team t-shirt supplied by GPGSA must be worn during all games.
- No player shall wear a softball glove. The game ball is foam rubber and will be safe for kids to play without the use of a glove.
- All equipment for Blastball will be furnished for use by the team by GPGSA.
Equipment includes: Blast balls, bat, batting tee, blast ball 1st base.
Games:

Rules:
- Minimum number of players per team is 5 with a maximum of 7 players per team.

- The home team will be responsible for setting up the field for the game and the guest team will be responsible for returning the equipment after the game has ended.
- Coaches will also serve as umpires while on the field.
