  PCC Commissioner Craig Burris
Craig Burris
Craig W. Burris

God saw you getting tired and a cure was not meant to be, so He put his arms around you and whispered, "Come to Me". With tearful eyes we watched you, as we saw you pass away. Although we loved you deeply, we could not make you stay. Your Golden Heart stopped beating, hard working hands at rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us, He only takes the best.

It comes with a very heavy heart to report that Craig Burris, PCC's brave, strong and loving leader passed away Friday, April 18. Please continue to pray for Cathy and her family at this extremely difficult time. They will need comfort and support today and in the weeks and months ahead.
Please continue to visit the Caring Bridge Web Site by clicking on Craig's Picture to stay connected to Craig's family.

Craig Burris will be missed by the Xtreme
Craig & Cathy Burris
Cathy & Craig Burris

After our Inaugural Season in 2001, the Xtreme was in a difficult situation with a difficult decision to make. After our first meeting with Craig, his wife Cathy and then Chief Deputy Commissioner Mark Edwards, it was very apparent what we needed to do. We had to join the PCC.

Since then, Craig had not only been a role model and mentor, but a good friend to me and to the Xtreme. Our phone calls to catch up on current conference and city affairs would always contain a word of encouragement, a pearl of wisdom and a laugh or two. I will sorely miss our talks.

In 2008, I will complete my 11th season as a Board Member and my 8th season as President. Craig was there for six of them.

I take solace in knowing that Craig is at a better place and that this football season will be a very special one because instead of him visiting one location to oversee 5 games. This year, he will oversee all of the PCC games from his seat up above.

Craig, You were and forever will be...

GOOD TO GO.

JAMZ Nationals 2007
JAMZ Vegas
JAMZ hosted their Youth National Championships at The Orleans and The Aladdin Hotel & Casinos between February 9th to the 11th, 2007.

Your Xtreme Pee Wee Cheer Squad perfomed twice on Sunday the 11th at the Aladdin Hotel. The girls earned 5th Place in Youth I, Show Cheer Level 2 and earned 3rd Place in Youth I, Performance Cheer Level 2. In taking 3rd place, each girl also earned a medal.

JAMZ Regionals 2006
JAMZ Six Flags
On December 2, 2006, Magic Mountain in Valencia, CA was the host site of the JAMZ Holiday Classic.

Your Xtreme Pee Wee Cheer Squad led by Head Coach Virg and Asst Coach Dee competed against several other cheer squads throughout Southern California. After the performances, everyone made their way throughout Magic Mountain to enjoy some of the rides, including "Tatsu", the longest, tallest, fastest flying coaster on Earth!

At the end of the day, we made our way back to theater to hear the results. The JAMZ MC takes the stage and makes the announcement everyone involved in cheer wants to hear... "And First Place, Youth I, Performance Cheer Level 2 is... the Montebello Xtreme!"

The crowd went crazy and all the parents & cheerleaders bagan jumping up and down. The coaches took the stage and accepted the 1st Place Trophy. Most importantly, they received an envelope with an invitation to the National Championships in Las Vegas.

Great Job Girls...    VEGAS OR BUST!!

Xtremely Invincible
Xtremely Invincible

On Friday August 25, 2006, Walt Disney Pictures "Invincible" starring Mark Wahlberg opened at the AMC Theater in Montebello.

Inspired by the true story of Vince Papale, a down-on-his-luck teacher and part-time bartender lives every fan's fantasy of moving from the stands to the field when he makes it onto his hometown's professional football team during an open tryout.

On Saturday August 26th, the Xtreme screened the movie as a group. The Xtreme presold tickets during practices at the snack bar for $5 and sold just over 270. This event was open to friends, family and anyone who wished to enjoy a good movie with the Xtreme. Almost everyone in attendance wore Xtreme clothing. Thanks to all who attended and to the coaches for all their help.

FREE Nike Football Cleats Are In... AGAIN!!
NikeGridiron
For three consecutive years, Nike, the NFL and AYF had joined forces to donate football cleats to our league.

What did this mean for the Xtreme? It meant that football players who registered to play for the Xtreme in 2002, 03 & 04 received a brand new pair of Nike football cleats for FREE. The cleats were issued on a first come, first served basis to player who registered AND had a ZERO registration balance.

Over the three years, the Xtreme issued around 230 cleats to youth football players and in 2004, the Xtreme donated three pairs of cleats to Varsity football players of Montebello High School.

NCYS, AYF & PCC
The following is an excerpt from an email received by the Montebello Xtreme on April 11, 2003 from PCC.

Attn All:

The Youth Sports Council of America was trying to pass a Safety Background Check Program Amendment through the House and Senate as a rider to the Amber Alert Bill that had already been passed. With the help of American Youth Football and our letters to the various Senators and Assemblymen in Washington, the amendement to the Amber Alert Bill was passed by both the House and the Senate and is now on it's way to the President of the United States for his signature.

What this means is that every Youth Sports Program Nationwide, will now be required to establish some sort of Background Investigation Check on all it's volunteers working with youths throughout the United States.

...

Once again, I personally want to thank each and every one of you in the Pacific Coast Conference, for allowing me the opportunity to promote this pilot program, and to be able too provide the necessary data needed to both the House and Senate subcommittee's, that helped them make this Amendent to the bill a reality.

Pacific Coast Youth Football & Cheer is once again in the for front of making sure that we offer the BEST POSSIBLE PROGRAM AVAILABLE TO OUR CHILDREN WITHIN OUR AREA.

A special Thank You to Joe Galat, President of American Youth Football for becoming activitly involved in this process, and supporting us (PCC) by becoming a member of the Youth Sports Alliance and allowing our data, to be used in this important decision making process.

Sincerely,

Craig Burris
Executive Director
Pacific Coast Conference
