Golden State Stars (Softball): COACH STAN HUNT'S BIO
I started playing men's fast pitch softball at the young age of 16 years old. Originally recruited as a catcher and center fielder I gravitated to pitching. I played baseball from age of 6 years old to 18 years old. My senior year of playing baseball was drafted by New York Yankees. Spent one year in the rookie league and decided to join the U. S. Navy.
I played from 1969 to 1985 in the men's major level reaching both ISC Worlds and ASA Nationals 17 times. From 1975 thru 1995 I pitched internationally while in the U. S. Navy and locally in league play. Due to a vary bad arm injury from me blocking the plate on a wild pitch my pitching career was terminated in August 1995.
In the 26 years I pitched I won approximately 900 games, lost 450. I threw 3 perfect games, 10 no hitters and had 30 shut outs.
Started coaching youth ball in 1975 through 2002. The 27 years of coaching at the youth level went to ASA nationals 20 times. Triple Crown 2 times and USSSA 1 time. Many of the players coached reached the college level and graduated from college.
