Happy Holidays!
Hello everyone! I hope things are going well during this school year and that everyone had a nice Thanksgiving. The school year sure is going fast! I've been busy teaching in Hempfield and coaching at the Lancaster Y. I'm also helping out with the Hempfield HS team this winter. I've been lucky enough to have many swimmers in class, as well as coaching some at the Y and HHS! I've seen many of you around as well. Good luck this winter to all the GMST swimmers competing for winter clubs, as well as other sports. A number of our swimmers participated in fall sports and were successful. Most notably is the Hempfield girls' volleyball team, which won the state title! Ella Meier was a member of that team- congrats!

Of course, the holiday season wouldn't be complete without our annual holiday pool party! So come on out to GM on Friday, December 15 from 6:00-8:30 pm for some swimming, food, and lots of fun! Golden Meadows will provide the pizza, and families are asked to bring a side item/dessert or drinks to share. Please RSVP by calling the pool office. Parents are invited to join in the fun too! Swimmers are encouraged to bring any friends or siblings that are interested in joining the team! The coaches will be there to have fun as well! Hope to see everyone there!

Great Win on Thursday!!!
Third time must have been the charm for the Seahorses! After the dual meet with Conestoga had to be rescheduled twice due to thunderstorms, the meet was finally swum on Thursday, 7/20. The Seahorses were victorious in the close, exciting meet with the winning score of 220-206. So many best times were achieved, including some spectacular relay splits! The dual meet season was finished with a record of 2-5, placing 6th in Division 1. GM will remain in Division 1 for next year with the realignment to 4 divisions. Though our dual meet record probably wasn't as good as it could have been (meaning: please take vacations in August if possible!!!!!) we had a good season with a great group of kids. The swimmers were all fantastic! Next up is Divisionals at Adamstown on 7/20. Warmups for 11 and up are at 7:20 am. Warmups for 10 and under are at 12:20 pm. We should have a good showing as 3/4 of the team is going, and most are top 10 seeds! Good luck GMST!

Great job at the meets!
The first week of dual meets is over, and we had many great swims this week. We had lots of great swims at the Woodridge Classic on Sat. 6/17. Many of our swimmers were medal winners, and most placed. Way to go! This week we also had our first 2 dual meets. While we were missing 25-30 people from our team, the swimmers that competed did an outstanding job and represented our team as a classy, competitive team. On Tuesday we had so many best times that I lost count of them! And on Thursday we had a competitive meet with good team spirit. Of course, no swim meet night would be complete without the team gathering at Hot Z and Sonic. I was very proud of all our swimmers this week for doing a great job, and even though the outcomes of the meets didn't go in our favor this time, we surely will get them in the weeks to come... just you wait!

This Saturday we have Ephrata Relays. Please be there for warmups at 8:20 am. The meet begins at 9. There will be freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and medley relays (sorry, no fly relays... I know, I always wished there were!) Let's just hope for good weather! In all my years at the relays (since 1989!) we have had good weather, let's hope that continues. Afterward we'll have our 2nd annual Chinese food late lunch/early dinner.

Next week we swim Conestoga at home on Tuesday and at Overlook on Thursday. GO GMST!

The meets are underway!
The season has really begun! Last Saturday we had the Seahorse Mini Meet, and our 8's and 10's swam great! Lots of great times were achieved. It was probably the best mini meet I've been to; it ran so smoothly and quickly. Thanks to all the volunteers who worked hard to run a great meet!

Thursday was Overlook Relays, and we swam pretty well for it being the first meet for most of the kids. All of the kids did an outstanding job, and some very exciting races were swum. We have pictures from the meet on the GMST webshots page, along with some other pictures. Check them out at: http://community.webshots.com/user/gmswimteam

This Saturday we swim at the Woodridge Swim Classic. Please be there by 8:10 am. The meet begins at 9:00 am. Can't wait to see the kids swim the 100 IM!

Next week we start out dual meets, so everyone start getting pumped and ready to swim fast to win!

Seahorse Mini Meet
The season is in full swing and it's great to see all the familiar and new faces! Everyone's been working hard at practice, and it will definitely pay off. We have some challenging meets ahead, so we need everyone there with their game faces on, pumped and ready to swim fast! I know you guys are dying to push us coaches in the pool this summer, but you have to earn it!

The Seahorse Mini Meet, our annual meet for the 10 and under crowd that includes all the teams in the league, is this Saturday, June 10th. We coaches are so excited to see how everyone does, because there have been HUGE improvements in stroke technique and speed so far at practice. Make sure you're at GM by 8:15 am on Saturday, because we warm up at 8:30. The meet begins at 9 am. Just a reminder to all meet volunteers that there is a meeting Friday night at 7 pm upstairs at the pool.

Next week we begin our normal summer practice schedule, which is held Monday-Friday. It is as follows:

11 and up: 9:30=11:00 am outdoors
10 and under: 11 am- 12 noon indoors

Remember, attendance is taken at practice, and if you're late without a valid reason, there will be consequences!

Registration Party
Hi everyone! I was so glad to see lots of you at the registration party on Friday. We had a really good turnout, especially from the younger swimmers! Lots of familiar and new faces. I'm very excited to see what our roster looks like in a month. I think that if everyone does their best and is a team player (meaning, having good practice/meet attendance!) we can once again have a great, winning, fun season!

Just a reminder that practice begins Monday, May 22 in the indoor pool. If you haven't turned in your registration yet, do so at your earliest convenience. It helps me out if you have your info in earlier, so I can get the roster ready to turn in.

Also, please visit the message board (use the link on the front page, or click on the GM Swim Center picture) and post any discussions or questions you would like to. Signing up for a local account on ezboard is quick and easy.

That's all for now, see you in 3 weeks when I graduate from ESU and come home!

It's almost that time!
Hello GMST! Hard to believe, but it's almost April already! Pretty soon it will be May and time for us to begin the 2006 summer swim season. Last year we had such an amazing season. Third in Division I with only 65 swimmers... not too shabby. It was definitely a credit to the talent, hard work, and perseverence of the GMST swimmers. Unfortunately, missing even a few swimmers can mean the difference between a win and a loss, which did happen at one of our dual meets last year. I hope that we have good meet attendance this year... so plan those vacations for August! I was so glad to hear how well our swimmers did during the winter, swimming for USS, YMCA, and high school teams. Congratulations go out to GMST swimmers who went Districts and States for high school.

We will be having our annual registration party at GM on Friday, April 21st from 6-8:30. I hope to see everyone there!

Finally, we had a fun time at our holiday party back in December. I took a bunch of pictures, and have posted them here: http://community.webshots.com/user/gmswimteam

I'll be taking more pictures eventually and posting them there. If you have any pictures that could be added to our photo collection, please send them to JBswim02@yahoo.com

See you all soon!
