Lady Villains In The Community.
The first day of camp was for 6-9 year olds, and the second day of camp was for 10-15 year olds. Both camps were for boys and girls.

The campers went through several skill stations, which the players directed. Defensive footwork, passing and ball-handling were taught in the first half of the camp. Sweep moves, v-cuts, fades, and duck-ins were taught in the second half.

At the end of the second day, each camper received a Christmas Candy Bag. Hanes Hosiery Recreation Director Art Blevins is a longtime friend of Villains' Head Coach Brian Robinson. Blevins runs free and discounted leagues and camps for the kids at his recreation center in Winston-Salem. This season's league has 160 kids participating.
Friday, December 23 December 22, 2005 - Lady Villains Visit Pennybyrn at Maryfield Retirement Center.
The visit was set-up by Varsity Assistant Coach Trish Grant. The girls were asked to bring a small gift to practice two weeks before the visit, which Coach Grant delivered. The girls then met at Pennybyrn at Maryfield, a Catholic Retirement Home, following practice.

The girls sang five songs for the group, and got many of the staff and residents to sing with them.
Two Former Lady Villains To Help Conduct Duke-Carolina Basketball Marathon!!!
The event has two goals, the first is to raise money for Hoop Dreams Basketball Academy, an organization for kids with life-threatening illnesses. Hoop Dreams allows kids the opportunity to exercise and interact with peers who understand what it is like to be "different". The second goal is to try and break the world record for the longest basketball game ever played. Kim is the Operations Committee Chair for the event. Kate is going to playing in the event. Both Duke and Carolina will field a team of twelve players each. The event is trying to raise $80,000 for Hoop Dreams. The event will be held at Fetzer Gymnasium on UNC's Campus. Kate and Kim Get It Done; Break World Record For Longest Game!!!
Kate's Carolina Team lost to Duke's Team, but Kate enjoyed the event. Kim, who flew off to Italy the next day, helped coordinate the event. Forty-two campers attended the camp and went through several skills and drills during the time period. At the end of the camp, camper's received either a poster or a T-Shirt, compliments of the Varsity Lady Villains!!!
Tuesday, November 7 Lady Villains Hold Coaching / Teaching Clinic!!!
The event was held at the Kernersville Family YMCA. The Lady Villains demonstrated many of their basic defensive and offensive drills that set the foundation for their success in 2005-06 and years past. Twenty-six coaches were in attendance at this event.
Lady Villains Collect Can Goods For Northwest Food Bank Of North Carolina.
The project began on December 6, 2006 and completed on December 20, 2006 when the Varsity Lady Villains took the food items to the food bank before their game at South Stokes. Thanks to all who helped.
Saturday, January 6 Thanks For Your Help At Special Olympics On Saturday!!!
Bishop teacher Maryann Tyrer helped coordinate volunteers for the NCSO Regionals, which was held at Hanes Hosiery Recreation Center. Volunteers helped ref games, scorebook keeping, and game clock duties. Current and former Lady Villains' players volunteered at the event, which featured twenty-one teams from 11 counties (Forsyth, Surry, Stokes, Alamance, Rowan, Davie, Randolph, Davidson, Guilford, Yadkin and Wilkes). Thanks Again!!!
Saturday, January 20 "Think Pink" For January 26-28!!!
The Women's Basketball Coaches Association, which Coach Robinson is a member of, has encouraged all of its' members to have their teams and programs "Think Pink" for January 26-28. Thursday, December 13 Thank You For Bringing Your Gifts!!! The staff at Pennyburn at Maryfield wanted to thank the Varsity and Junior Varsity Lady Villains' Players for their gifts. Pat and Janet, who handle the Angel Tree for Pennyburn at Maryfield, were excited for the gifts for their residents. Many of the residents of the Catholic Rest Home do not have families, or some of the families are out of state, so any gift they receive helps lifts their spirits. The gifts were taken to Pennyburn at Maryfield on Saturday, December 15th by Assistant Coach Trish Grant and her husband Bobby. Thank you and Merry Christmas!!! Monday, February 4 Thanks For Supporting "Coaches vs. Cancer" On Tuesday, February 5th!!!
Tuesday Night, February 5, 2008 was "Coaches vs. Cancer" Night in Forsyth County. Coaches at all Forsyth County Schools were asked to wear tennis shoes while coaching during their games on Tuesday Night. There was a collection can at the gate to support this cause. The Women's Basketball Coaches Association is sponsoring National Breast Cancer Awareness Week, February 8-17, 2008. Please show your support for this effort during the Varsity Lady Villains' Games by wearing pink. The Lady Villains will play three games during that week:
Thursday, January 1 Varsity Lady Villains Host Holiday Camp.
The Varsity Lady Villains held a skills and drills holiday camp in December 2008 for 4th - 8th grade participants. 27 campers attended. Thursday, December 17 Varsity & Junior Varsity Lady Villains Deliver Gifts To Pennybyrn Retirement Home.
Thanks to the Varsity & Junior Varsity Lady Villains for collecting and then delivering Christmas Gifts to the residents of Pennybyrn Retirement Home in High Point. Varsity Lady Villains' Assistant Coach Trish Grant worked with the Director at Pennybyrn on purchasing gifts for the residents through the home's Angel Tree. Each girl purchased a gift and then a few accompanied Coach Grant to the retirement home to deliver the items. The residents and workers at the home appreciate your thoughts, gifts and efforts to make sure everyone received a present. |
