Five Hills Track & Field Club: Links

The National Elite Youth Ranking System is a database of thousands of performances by thousands of athletes during the past five years of outdoor track and field. These performances are from USATF and AAU association, regional and National Championships with a few open meets thrown in.
If you don't see performances you feel should be listed, contact us. We need link information for the performances to verify electronically. Many of the performances we list came from multiple sources for the very same meet. The link we provide for a performance item will go to the first source available in our database, not necessarily the source we used for the data. Contact us if you have a question about a performance or a request for missing performances to be added.
I highly recommend Coaches, Athletes and Parents visit this site at least three time a week.

We present this valued Track & Field source in keeping with our “Vision” of well trained, well prepared, well disciplined, and well-educated athletes. This site is very informative and shows the current best and all time Legends of Track & Field. One of the greatest Long Jump competitions of the ages was Carl Lewis and Mike Powell. Did you know Coach Griffin hears music while our athletes are performing? This site provides a little entrance into his mindset [Just type in “Olympic 100m Final (Mozart)] in the search engine on the bottom of the page. PARENTS this site has an enormous library of other things we do not approve of or endorse, so please be very specific when entering youtube.com.

This site provides all the necessary information concerning the Annual Carl Lewis High School Indoor Track Meet, which is held every third Saturday of January in Houston Texas.

This is a must site for our youth athletics and parents. A Lot of Coaching Wisdom, Olympic Gold Medals and World Records has been yielded from Waco's fertile grounds.

This is a great site for our young people and High Schoolers to witness great achievement of atheletes while pursuing their graduate degrees.
Many of their athletes ran AAU Summer Track, as it was evident in many of them recognizing the Five Hills Jack Rabbits during the well-renowned Texas Relays in early May 2003.
Maurice Greene, Inger Miller and Larry Wade headlined an All Star cast of professioanl and collegiate athletes during the UT's sponsored Track Meet in Austin.
This site is a window to all the fine sporting (games) events the University of Texas sudents engages. UT may have a place in our Jack Rabbits' future.

The Texas Heat Track Club has been a dear friend to the Five Hills Track Club. Last year, one of sprinters put his spikes down to view a race, and they were stolen. I (Coach Griffin) went to Coach Riggins for help in getting our Jeremy a pair of spikes. Coach Riggins retrieved an expensive pair of Nikes for Jeremy. The shoes were clean and a perfect fit. Coach Riggins, his Staff and athletes know who the Jack Rabbits are, and they treat us well. Check out their website. I know I saw Valerie sprinting through hurdles, and a host of young people they coined "A Visiting Team," at their all comer's meet. Yes, Jack Rabbits.

For many of our athletes, you all will remember Zach and Olivia, those long distance racers. Well their mom. Laura had form a team in New York. She was our faithful Long time Team Publicist.

This track club has an awesome Head Coach (Bragner), and his coaches who solidify a cohesive group of experienced and skilled coaches. This track team is a friend of Five Hills Track & Field Club. Their athletes are competitive and only hear the voices and instructions of their mentors (Coaching Staff). This team is well grounded and their family and friends are fierce competitors; yet humble, friendly and graciuos at all times.

Coach Steve Isham is a main stay in developing long distance runners. He is a powerhouse of wisdom in getting the most potential out his long distance racers. He doesn't seek out the fastest kids in the neighborhood; he just trains these kids like champions.
Coach Steve is a friend and fierce training competitor with the Five Hills Family, so when you see that yellow with green pronounce their classic heritage, just say hello and watch their athletes represent a great and growing community.

Our Track season doesn't end if our athletes don't make it through the awesome competition of the AAU three Junior Olympics Qualifiers. Yes, we afforded our athletes further Track and Field experiences. Thanks to our Partnership with the City of Copperas Cove's Parks and Recreation. Our athletes and parents save tremendous funds in competing at the infamous Hart-Patterson Field at Baylor University. Yes, where 200m and 400m world record holder Michael Johnson went to college in Waco.
We have had good success in TAAF since 2002. In particular, I missed a major track and field feat, even when Robert told me the announcer said he had the 400m record. I was just glad he competed well in the first race of the year, where he was noticeably nervous at the start. Robert earned his victory in running the tempo of a race suited for his competition, before exploding the last 150 meters to victory. So, yes he's the new record holder in the 400m with a time of 58.80 seconds.
Donald Buckram ran a magnificent 110m Hurdles. He ran faster than the old record of 15.22 seconds, but the announcer claimed Donald's performance was assisted by a strong trailing wind, which exceeded the allowable 2.5 mph wind draft. I (Coach Griffin) protested that notion since I was standing near the wind monitor device. It took some time, but I was right and Donald performance of 14.98 seconds in the 110m Hurdles is posted as the new record. Congratulation Donald and Robert for your State Record Performances.

These site is of vital importance to me, and I plan training development, intensity and our goal oriented performance from our athletes after the initial assessment of their strengths and developmental needs. Many (AAU and College) Coaches are tracking certain athletes for their past and recent performances and future secondary education sports program. You will find this site useful.

I, Coach Griffin highly encourage the parents and athletes to consider this on-line sporting goods site before purchasing any track shoes. I've been able to find great affordable and durable (Expensive in quality) shoes at a fraction of the price than from local and well known retailers. If you elect to purchase your athlete (Child) a pair of track shoes costing over $49.00. I must inform you, those shoes are not built to sustain everyday practices. Your competition shoes should be strong with a snug fit (Nearly new). Please consult with the coaches before making any purchase of track shoes. You, not I shall make the final purchasing decision. I'm just trying to encourage you in making an informed decision.
Please rest assure, I don't advocate uniformity in our athletes when it comes to the shoes on their feet. Each athlete need a shoe for his chosen event. Mizuno makes a great 110 meters shoes for hurdles ($199.00). Asics make a truly competive sprint/hurdler shoe for $49.00. Nike makes a great variety of shoes for the 100m, 200m and 400m sprinter (Ranging from $14.99 up to Whew!). Asics are beginning to make some great shoes for sprinting, jumping, hurdling and long distances. Puma has some very nice long jump and high jump shoes. Most of the well known shoe companies make great shoes, and you can't go wrong when picking a Nike vs Adidas. Here's a great example. Tim Montgomery (The new world record holder in the 100m Dash at 9.78 seconds) luggage were lost in an airport, so before one race, he borrowed Marion Jones (Female) track shoes (They wore the same size). In that race, he ran the third fastest time in 100m Dash history in Marion's shoes. The quality and technolgy is so close whether for male or female shoes. Just last year in a qualifing meet in San Antonio, one of our sprinters spikes were stolen (See Texas Heat link to get that amazing story). Parents, find a shoe that's reasonable priced, and purchase it.
You see, it's better to have a variety shoes to select from versus a standard shoe of inferior quality and a cut throat price. The other choice would be a shoe which is given to your athlete from a sponsor in advertisment. When our economy regain its strength, I do plan to lobby Mizuno, Nike or Adidas Sports Companies for great team rates. Even then, Eastbay Sports rises to the top in saving money while offering a variety in styles to fit everyone's budget. Here's an example. Maurice Greene (Former world record holder in the 100m Dash 9.79 seconds) shoes costs up to $120.00, they are strong and look good. I purchased two pair of Asics sprint shoes for $19.00 each. Robert practiced in one pair, and competed in the other. He did okay, the expensive shoes are strictly mental (Mostly).
Our athletes who are 14 years of age and younger need not purchase shoes costing over $60.00. Even that's a very high ceiling. Our athletes over 14 years of age must demand their shoes to be strong in quality; yet light to be swift in their chosen event. Eastbay can still accomodte them at a reasonable price without sacrificing quality.
The savings does not end with track, I purchased Robert a $129.99 pair basketball shoes for $64.67, which included shipping from eastbay. I received the shoes in four days at their slowest mailing rate. I'm going to order a pair, the price dropped to $54.15 last week, which includes shipping and handling. Our mission is to keep our track association cost low as possible without sacrificing quality, development and the competitive experience.

Hello Five Hills Track & Field Club Family. I've felt you should be informed of the best possible rehydration sports drink available. Last year, we consumed more Ultima Replenisher than Gatorade and Powerade combined. Our athletes were taxed to the extreme while competing in AAU and TAAF Qualifiers. I stood at the finish line rehtdrating many athletes with the Ultima Replenishers. If I didn't, they would remind me; it's not because of an addiction, but of the rehydrating performance. The sports drink didn't slow their metabolism down, and gave them confidence beyond heat induced injuries like dehydration, heat cramps, exhaustion and stroke.
This year, the Ultima Replenisher has more flavors to satisfy even the most toughest beverage tasting critic.

Coach John Smith, and his stable of professional athletes with include Inger Miller (100m/200m), Maurice Greens (100m/200m), Larry Wade (110H), Allen Johnson (110) and Torri Edwards (100m) to name a few are showcased during their professional Track Circuit.

HSI is growing and attracting some of the best track athletes in the world. Just recently they signed Allen Johnson. He's the world's greatest hurdler ever. No other 110-meter Hurlder has ever ran under 13-seconds more times than Allen. His technique is brillant and he runs fast with a calm facial expression.
HSI's legacy of accomplishments and respect is atracting international tracks stars who wants John Smith's knowledge of developing and motivating the world's best Track & Field athletes.

This is one of my favorite Track & Field site. It show cases all the major and minor professional Track & Field Events. It has a built in world rankings of the best at their craft in track.
The IAAF is the source when looking for your favorite athlete. It gives you detail accounts of all countries Olympic trails and results.
The Golden League Circuit, which professional athletes compete for a million dollars in gold for both men and women. The professional athletes is challenged in winning seven straight Running, Jumping or Throwing Events. This is tough, because the professional ranks is so closely contested each time out.
The only time the television showcase the world's greatest athletes is when it's Olympic time; which is every four years.
In 2002, Marion Jones and Tim Montgomery won the Golden League money finishing strong in Paris, September 2002. Tim Montgomery broke Maurice Greene's 100m of 9.79 with a 9.78 top end sprint.

This website has been on the rise in offering great quality in the last year or so in Track and Field shoes, apparel and equipment. The field events shoes are expensive, and First to the Finish online store have reduced their pricing in a tremendous way.
So, here's another site I've used to further reduce cost to myself, and hopefully to you.

Hello Five Hills Track & Club Family. Here's another online sports store, that is worth consideration. There prices are very competitive, especially High Jumpers shoes, Shot Put and Discus foot gear. I purchased a pair of High Jumpers shoes for $29.00, the East Bay price was $104.00 for the exact same shoe.
So, continue to be an informed consumer, and purchase the best value and economical foot gear for your athlete. They also have a very good selection of Track & Field Equipment.
