About the school...

GodwinBlooms
Mills E. Godwin High School is one of the top schools in Virginia and is the home of Henrico County's Center for Mathematics, Science and Technology. Godwin has achieved the highest scores for Comprehensive High Schools on the Virginia Standards of Learning for four years.

About the program...

In the last 20 years, Godwin has established itself as one of the most respected programs in the state. Winning 17 Colonial District Championships (15 straight undefeated seasons), 17 Colonial District Tournaments and 13 Central Region Championships. Godwin has competed in 14 of the 16 Virginia AAA state tournaments, which started in 1993, winning the title in 1995 and 1997 and reaching the final four 11 times. The success of the volleyball program is attributed to the work ethic and dedication of the players. The varsity team participates in rigorous preseason training to be both physically and mentally prepared for the season. The junior varsity and freshman teams concentrate more on individual skills and an understanding of the basics. These are the strong foundations on which the varsity team is built. While most teams end their season in October or November, Godwin players continue to train in the weight room, play club volleyball and compete on other high school athletic teams. The athletes realize that one must train more than three months a year to reach a higher level of play. The volleyball program includes freshman(grades 8-9), junior varsity(grades 8-10) and varsity(grades 9-12) teams. There are currently 34 players in the Godwin program.
