February '09 newsletter
from the desk of...
Bill Arrington, President
Hello fellow members of GLSUA. It is hard to believe when you look out at all the ice and snow, (global warming) but softball season is almost upon us. I will again attempt to update all of you as to our board.
1. Our meeting dates:
Regular meetings- Tuesday 3/10 and Monday 4/13 both 7:00 at Bunting Club
    Interpretation meetings- Saturday 3/21 @ 10:00 and Wednesday 4/1 @ 7:00 Bunting Club
2. Game fees will be the same as last year. The board felt that with the economy as bad as it is, it would not be prudent to raise our fees this year.
3. Dues- also the same as last year $125. This in spite of our registration going up $5 again this year.
4. Banquet- Last year's banquet was outstanding again. Thanks go out to Kopy and Joe G. for doing most of the planning. Do we want to go to The Village Inn again, or does anyone have any other suggestions? See Kopy if you have any ideas.
5.Our board tournament is the weekend of 6/26,27, and 28. Last year's tournament was a huge success, and was the reason we could hold the line on our dues even though our registration went up $5/person. Thanks to all who contributed.
6. Gold Medal Umpires. - Could all the gold medal umps please wear your gold medal hats to our first meeting so we can take a picture. We want to send it to Balls and Strikes, and possibly to Referee magazine.
7. Joe G. has not yet announced the dates for his new umpire classes. If any member knows of anyone who would like to attend these classes, please contact Joe G.
8. The positions up for re-election this year are: secretary, treasurer and assignment secretary. If anyone is interested in running for any of these positions, please contact John Kuenzler who is head of the nomination committee.
