Girls Little League Softball of Wallingford: 2009 Regular Season Divisions

Major Division
Major League is for girls 10-12 years old. Utilizing all fundamentals learned in the Minor Leagues, this league is focused on a team structure and “Heads up Play”…The program offers a full range of tournament play with a World Series.

Senior Division

Minor League AA Division
AA League (Minor) is for girls 7-8 years old. In AA Minor League, players may hit a ball pitched from a pitching machine or swing freely from an “adult pitched” ball. The primary goal of AA Minor League is to continue to instruct the girls in the fundamentals of softball and to allow them to experience the value of teamwork.

Minor League AAA Division
AAA League (Minor) is for girls 9-10 years old. In AAA Minor League players hit from a “player pitched” ball. The primary goal of AAA Minor League is to re-enforce the fundamentals and introduce more playing skills such as sliding, stealing bases, and base running on passed balls. Tournament play is introduced up to state level.

Tee Ball
Tee Ball is for girls 5-6 years old, who want to learn the fundamentals of hitting, running, and fielding. In Tee Ball, players hit a ball off a batting tee or coach pitch. Rules of the game may be varied to accommodate the need for teaching. The primary goals of Tee Ball are to have fun, to instruct the younger girls in the fundamentals of softball and to allow them to experience the value of teamwork.


Big League
Big League/Senior League is for girls 14-18 years old. These leagues are a continuation of the Junior League play at a higher age level. The program offers a full range of tournament play with a World Series. This division starts on or around June 1st after the high schools finish their season.
