The Glenpool Chargers completed their amazing Fall 2006 Under-19 Girls League play with a 6-1 win over the TUSC Aces on a chilly afternoon road game. In extending their undefeated streak to 38 games, the Chargers won their fourth consecutive league championship when configured as 89/90s. The Chargers started slowly again, allowing the Aces to score first. After missing several excellent opportunities, the Chargers broke through on a beautiful break away goal by Kaila Thompson. Rachael Burress made it 2-1 at half with a long shot just over the outstretched fingers of the keeper. As has been the case all year, the Chargers wore down their opponent in the second half, and imposed their will. Kaila Thompson and Hayden Carr both expertly chipped the charging keeper on break away runs and Emily Berrigan added the last two goals on a run up the middle and a beautiful goal from twenty five yards out on a direct free kick. The Chargers defense played its standard excellent game and the midfield totally dominated possession while putting together its best passing game of the year, constantly putting together one touch passes and combination runs. During the Chargers streak, they had a record of 36-0-2 with 189 goals scored and only 16 surrendered. The last game the 89/90 Chargers lost was in Spring 2001.
