Glendale Little League: My Site News: Election To Play Up In The Next, Older Age Division
Sunday, October 25Election To Play Up In The Next, Older Age Division
The Glendale Little League Board has adopted a policy that allows certain players to elect to play up in the next older division. Please read below for information about this policy and how to register your child to play up in the next division if you desire to do so.
You must register your child through the online registration system (starting November 7, 2009) for the appropriate division based on his/her age as of April 30, 2010. The election to play up in the next division will be handled separately outside of the online registration system. (Please read below for instructions.)
For the 2010 season league age is based on a player’s age as of April 30, 2010. Divisions are aligned by league age as follows:
- Rookie – league age 6 through 8. You must be 6 on 4/30/10 to play - no exceptions.
- Minors – league age 9 and 10
- Majors – league age 11 and 12
- Juniors – league age 13 or 14
- Player is league age 8 and in the 3rd grade. Player must register for Rookies when registering in the on-line system but can elect to play up in Minors. Note that you will not be eligible for post season district tournament play in Minors as you must be league age 9 or 10.
- Player is league age 10 and in the 5th grade. Player must register for Minors when registering in the on-line system but can elect to play up in Majors. Note that you will be eligible for the Minors post season district tournament team but not the Majors team where you must be league age 11 or 12.
- Player is league age 12 and in the 7th grade. Player must register for Majors when registering in the on-line system but can elect to play up in Juniors. Note that you will not be eligible for post season district tournament play in either Majors or Juniors. By LL International Rule players that play up in Juniors are not eligible for Majors post season district tournament play even if they are league age 12. You also must be league age 13 or 14 to be eligible for the Juniors post season district tournament team.
If your child meets one of the three above criteria and you want to elect to play up in the next division you must complete the election form below – please print out directly from this page. In addition to completing the election form you will need to provide a copy of an official school record that shows your child’s name and grade enrolled for the 2009-2010 school year.
