GIRARD TRACK + FIELD 

The Track and Field Season is as follows:  two open participation (everyone is eligible) meets will occur first, then a restricted meet and the Division Meet will be held.  As opposed to the 2 open meets, participation will be limited to 6 entries and 2 relay teams per age group in the restricted meet, and 4 entries per event and 1 relay team per age group in the District Meet.

The coaches will determine the entries for this restricted meets via performance at the two open meets and at practice, and contact the participants.  Each restricted meet participant will require a JPRD ID card to verify eligibility.  To advance to the Eastbank Championship meet, a participant must either be an active participant OR an alternate in that event, AND be a Top 4 finisher in the District Meet.  The Parish Championship participants will qualify at the East Bank Meet (Top 4).

All age groups are invited to participate. Events include relays, sprints, runs, ball throw, shot put, high jump and long jump. Practices are normally held on Tuesdays and Thursdays, with meets on Saturdays.

In some of the older age groups, we do not have enough participants to fill our allotment of entries.  It is not too late to sign up for the District meet if your child is interested in filling one of those currently empty slots.  Please contact the office at 838-1038 if interested.

There are several banners in the Girard Gym, showing many T+F championships over the years. Girard normally has the highest participation of any playground at track meets. Come and join the "Sea of Blue" this year!
