The first weekend of playoffs finished with just one undefeated team on the east bank. Championship day has six teams fighting for three east bank crowns. In the Junior A Division, Delta matches up with Girard. The Junior AA Division has Pontiff playing Jefferson for the title. And the Minor Division, features Pontiff taking on Delta.

Three teams completed the regular season with unblemished records as the 2007 JPRD east bank travel team tackle football season heads into the postseason.
In the playoff semifinals, the Junior A Division has Delta (6-1) playing Little Farms (4-4), and Girard (6-0) squares off with Bright (3-4). The Minor Division will feature Lemon (4-0) playing Pontiff (4-1) and Delta (5-0) taking on Girard (3-1).
GIRARD 32 - Bright 8
The Girard Vikings rode the running of Parker Caronia in the first half to take a 24-0 lead over Bright into intermission. A 3-yard carry by Caronia midway through the first quarter followed by a Jordan Harper kicked point after touchdown put the Vikes up 8-0.
With 5:52 remaining in the first half, Caronia carried through the left side of the line on a 1-yard plunge, and Harper added the point after touchdown. With nearly one minute left in the half, Caronia took a sweep in from 30 yards out into the end zone. Harper kicked his third point after touchdown, and Girard led 24-0 at halftime.
Bright's Michael Kennedy capped off a third quarter drive scoring on a 3-yard carry to the right with 2:51 on the clock. Peter Santos kicked the point after touchdown, and Girard's lead was narrowed to 24-8. Viking quarterback Beau Egan scored the final touchdown of the game sprinting in on a keeper from 56 yards out. Harper kicked his fourth point after touchdown, and the Vikes ran their record to 8-0 with a 32-8 victory.

Results from the final week of Junior League regular season games include:
GIRARD 20 - Miley 6
The Miley Cardinals scored first in a contest with undefeated Girard when Brice McDuffie connected with Scott Hale on a halfback pass for a 49-yard touchdown in the first quarter. Later in the first period, Yuki Kurusu knotted the score by taking a handoff through the middle and sprinting in on a 50-yard carry. Jordan Harper kicked the point after a touchdown, and the Vikings were on top 8-6.
In the first minute of the second quarter, Harper carried to the left and raced into the end zone on a 38-yard run. With three minutes remaining in the half, Kurusu intercepted a Cardinal pass and returned it 70 yards for the final points of the game in a 20-6 Girard victory.

With one week remaining in the regular season, many teams are still trying to make the playoffs.
In the Junior Division, Jefferson and Pontiff will vie for the 'AA' title. The 'A' bracket has Girard (6-0) and Delta (5-1) in the playoffs with Bright (3-3), Cleary (3-3), and Little Farms (2-4) fighting for the final two spots in the semifinals.
GIRARD 20 - Cleary 13
In a game between Cleary and Girard, the Rebels' Trey Hooper moved the Rebels deep into Viking territory with a 12-yard carry to the eight-yard line in the first quarter. Girard's Garret Puyau and Colin Rousset teamed up on fourth down to keep Cleary out of the endzone with a stop at the four-yard line.
The Rebels drove again getting the ball down to the Girard eight-yard line when Jared Whitman passed to Anthony Wade for a 17-yard gain. Hooper ran the ball into the endzone from five-yards out for a 6-0 Rebel lead.
The Vikings answered quickly with a touchdown pass from Evan Chacon to Jordan Harper that covered 35-yards to knot the score at 6-6.
The Vikings took the kickoff to start the second half. A five play drive was capped off with an 18-yard touchdown carry by Michael Andrade to put Girard up 12-6.
Cleary made an eight-yard touchdown reception by tight end Joseph Palmisano on a pass over the middle from Whitman. Whitman scrambled into the endzone for the PAT and the rebels led 13-12. The lead didn't last long when Yuki Kurusu returned the ensuing kickoff all-the-way for a touchdown from 64-yards out. Jordan Harper kicked the PAT and Girard was back on top 20-13.
With the Rebels on a drive in the final seconds, Girard's Harper broke up a pass at the goal line on the final play to seal the victory for the Vikings.

Going into the final two weeks of the regular season of the JPRD east bank's tackle football leagues, most teams are still in playoff contention. League leaders in the junior division include Girard (5-0), Delta (4-1), and Bright, Cleary, and Jefferson each at 3-2.
GIRARD 14 - Delta 6
In a battle between a pair of 4-0 teams, Girard traveled to Delta to take on the Eagles. Defense dominated the first half and the game was even at 0-0 going into halftime. The Vikings got onto the scoreboard first in the third quarter, when Parker Caronia carried the ball on an off-tackle run to the right and zipped in from 16-yards out. The Eagles' Randy Dayberry knotted the score on the ensuing kickoff by taking the ball 52-yards all the way for the equalizing touchdown. Girard regained the lead with another touchdown run by Caronia on a 6-yard sweep near the end of the third quarter. Jordan Harper kicked the PAT and the Vikings held on to win 14-6.

Three teams off to a fast start in the Junior League are Delta (3-0), Girard (3-0), and Jefferson (2-1).
GIRARD 30 - Little Farms 0
After a quiet first quarter, Girard's Beau Egan threw a swing pass to Yuki Kurusu for a 12-yard touchdown in the first minute of the second period. With two minutes to go in the half, Egan scrambled on a keeper to score on a 56 yard carry. Jordan Harper kicked the point after touchdown and the Vikings led 14-0 at intermission.
Late in the third quarter, Barrett Juneau scored on a three-yard run and Harper kicked for the point after touchdown. With 5:11 remaining in the game, Parker Caronia sprinted into the endzone for Girard on a 68 yard carry. Harper kicked the point after touchdown and Girard went home with a 30-0 victory to run their record to 2-0.
Girard 28 - Jefferson 15
Girard's Yuki Kurusu took the ball on an end around into the Jefferson endzone from 15 yards out and Jordan Harper kicked the point after touchdown for an 8-0 lead for the Vikings at the end of the first quarter. Jefferson got on the scoreboard with 4:15 left in the second quarter when Brandt Becnel capped off a drive with a one-yard carry. Becnel kicked the point after attempt to tie the game at 8-8. Each team scored in the final minute of the half.
Parker Caronia put the Vikings ahead with a 34-yard touchdown carry with 53 seconds on the clock. The Mustangs quickly tied the score on a one-yard dive by Becnel with 10 seconds remaining. Tyler Dupuy passed to Lance Kinsey for the extra point and Jefferson led 15-14 at intermission.
The Vikings took control of the game in the second half. A third-quarter carry by Parker Caronia in the third quarter was good for a touchdown from six yards out. Harper added the kicked extra points and Girard regained the lead 22-15. Early in the fourth quarter, the Vikings went back to Kurusu for an end around and he sprinted in from 69 yards out. The Girard defense did the rest and the Vikings went home with a 28-15 victory.

In a playoff game between Delta and Girard, the Eagles used a lightning strike in the first minute of the game when Dwayne Eugene swept right and sprinted into the end zone on a 72-yard carry. Girard's Alex Spears and Sean Finnegan teamed up for the stop on the point after touchdown and Delta led 6-0. Girard used ball control offense to drive the ball deep on the ensuing drive. A 2-yard carry by Finnegan capped off the drive to knot the score. Ryan LeBlanc kicked the point after touchdown, and the Vikings were on top 8-6.
The quick striking Eagles made short work overcoming the deficit when Darnell Green took in the ensuing kickoff and returned it all the way from his 35 yard line. The Vikings Hunter Robert blocked the point after touchdown kick attempt, and the Eagles had a 12-8 lead. In the final minute of the third quarter, Green got the ball on a reverse to the left and carried 53 yards for insurance points, and Delta held on to run their record to 6-0 with an 18-8 victory that sent the Eagles into the Minor Championship game.

GIRARD 14 - Cleary 0
In a key South Division match-up, the Girard Vikings kept their playoff hopes alive with a 14-0 win over Cleary. After a quiet first half, the Vikings scored the first points of the contest midway through the third quarter when Sean Finnegan ran around right end and sprinted into the endzone on a 32-yard carry.
Girard scored one more touchdown to seal the victory when Devin Hutton picked off a Rebel pass and returned it into the end zone from 25-yards out. Ryan LeBlanc kicked the PAT and the Vikings record improved to 2-1.

The Minor South is led by Lemon, 3-0; followed by Cleary, 2-0; and Girard, 1-1. The Minor North has Delta and Pontiff on top with 3-0 records and Bright is 2-1.
Lemon 18 - GIRARD 0
The Lemon Raiders took control of the South Division with an 18-0 win over Girard, to run their record to 3-0. Donté Jackson went 61-yards in the first quarter for a touchdown to put the Raiders up 6-0. The Vikings drove down deep inside Lemon's end of the field in the second quarter, only to have the drive stopped when David Hobson intercepted a pass at the Lemon 15-yard line and returned it 65-yards for the second touchdown of the afternoon. Jackson struck one more time on a long run, going 60-yards on a carry through the middle of the line in the third period to insure the win for the Raiders.
In other games; Cleary defeated Lakeshore 34-6; Delta defeated Miley 27-0; and Pontiff defeated Little Farms 33-0.

Girard 0 - Pontiff 7 (JAMBOREE)
Perennial Minor League powers Girard and Pontiff met up in a jamboree style two-period game in Metairie to get ready for the regular season. The Vikings took the opening kickoff and drove deep into Blue Devil territory only to be stopped when a fumble was recovered by Pontiff's Sam Brewton at the six yard line with 1:05 remaining in the first period.
On a 15-yard carry during the ensuing drive, Robert Poche moved the ball to the Viking's 13 yard line. A five-yard gain by Poche got the ball to the eight yard line. On the next play, James Licciardi closed out the drive scoring on a toss sweep to the left. Abby Touzet passed to Poche for the extra point and with 3:23 remaining in the game the Blue Devils led 7-0.
The Vikings drove inside the red zone but ran out of time at the Blue Devil's 17 yard line.
