Under 13 go down in Tie Breaker

Giants under 13s played Wainui in a thriller at Wise Park on Saturday.

In tie-breaker innings Giants lost 9-5. Giants led 4-2 then Wainui battered in 2 more runs to tie up the game in the top of 6th.

Giants were unable to score in bottom of innings.

Emma Kruszona was a standout with the bat & the infield played great defence led by Griffin Pauling, Stirling Paku & short stop Michael Brewster.

Another good pitching performance from Jacob Kuresa (Jaffa), who was named player of the day.

Over all the team need to focus more especially in the batters box putting bat to ball, that will come as the season develops.

I enjoyed the under 13s and look forward to next week because great things happen to those who wait for it.

U-13 First up win.

The team played Hutt City United – a mixed boys/girls team.

Pitchers Jacob Kuresa and Levi Harmon shared the pitching duties today and both threw with good control and weren't really challenge during the game.

The game was played in good spirit. Giants won 22-2 beating a side who didn’t have a strong pitcher.

Giants’ in-fielders general play was quite strong taking ground balls well, easy outs on 1, good in-field catches. Outfielders didn’t have much ball due mostly to strong pitching by both our pitchers Jacob and Levi. The batting was quite strong matched well be excellent base running.Player of the day was 3rd baseman Stirling Paku - well deserved good all-round play and attitude.
