A homerun from Nathan McQuade (Zinger) was the saving grace from Benchwarmers, a hardly convincing performance they scrapped home with the McQuade blast late in the game.

Vergins pitcher Danny Brown threw well for most part and tamed the likes of Nathan and Ryan Shannhan and Blair Thompson. Satisfied with the amount of runs on the board, the game was a lot tighter than score eventually reflected

Natives 6

Showstoppers 6

Showstoppers played yet another get out of jail card to come away with a draw versus a very good Natives side. The showstoppers have struggled in recent games, and a Campbell Gaunt homerun (controversial signing) saved the showstoppers from there first loss.” There a team that plays good softball, with a lot of tough outs in batting order, team to beat so far”

The Natives spearheaded by Chunky Karaitiana were far more satisfied with Natives performance this week after less then impressive the week before, the new acquisition of Australian Julian Jemmott added strength to a batting line up that has struggled in recent weeks. Deserved the win the Natives, but came up short as the Showstoppers continue there unbeaten run.

Showstoppers 6 -Vergins 4

Showstoppers were put under pressure by the Vergins in week 2 of the MFL, taking a 4-1 lead early in the game the stage was set for major upset, however the showstoppers lived up to the pre-season talk and clawed there back into the game, to snatch the lead in last inning. Tony Nixon then shut down the Vergins in the bottom of the inning to maintain the Showstoppers unbeaten record.

Benchwarmers 11- Natives 3

The Benchwarmers strung together a good performance with some good hitting to run out winners over the Natives. The Natives one of the favorites got off to a great start with homeruns from Corie and Chunky Karaitiana, however the bats were somewhat silent after that. First win and a big one at that for the Benchwarmers.

The new Kuripuni Fastball League (K.F.L) will be launched November 5th at South Park in Masterton. The teams will compete in a Fastball format, only 3 balls and a runner on base each innings.

With all 4 teams now registered the teams that will fight the Kuripuni Tavern Masterton Fastball League will be:

Natives: Led by Chunky Karaitiana and Corie Karaitiana, the team feature the who’s who of Margaret Street, Chunky and CK in typical fashion are talking up the Natives line up for this year. The swing for the fence attitude of the Natives, will keep pitchers on their toes.

  Maoris   Pure Athletes Aye!!!!

Show Stoppers: Spearheaded by Terry Waitere, the Giants P1 captain and Richard Carroll, the Show Stoppers have splashed the cash around in the off-season, the lucrative signing of young star catcher Campbell Gaunt has been a talking point. The Big Budget Dirty Dozen have lured the likes Tony Nixon and Gordy Wilmshurst from retirement.

Vergins: First time ever in a men’s competition the Virgins will comprise the best young talented softballer’s in the province. At the helm will be young pitcher Danny Brown combined with a couple old characters to bolster the line-up in Murray Brown and Mark Fricker, the Virgins will relish the fast paced game of fastpitch.

Benchwarmers: The Shannahan brothers, Nathan and Ryan along with Blair Thompson will lead the Benchwarmers. A humble bunch who will introduce some new faces to the softball diamond, the low key approach of the Benchwarmers makes them an unknown quality at this point.
