Presidents played Wainui League at home What an outstanding game of softball this was with some excellent pitching by Ray Stratford and Tony Nixon leaving Wainui scoreless.
Robbie Bull and Albie Matthews got the ball rolling with the bat allowing Robbie to score for Giants which turned out to be there only run.
Mark Fricker also batted well having 2 hits from 3 turns of bat.
Giants did out bat Wainui with 6 hits to there 3.
It was a bit of a nail biter at the bottom of the 7th with Dodgers hitting a 3 base hit first up, however with Tony Nixon’s experience under pressure and consistency pitched exceptionally well to leave that runner on 3rd allowing Giants to win the game 1-0.

The Presidents had a tough game this week, playing the winners of this grade last year Dodgers.
Players to shine and who were in outstanding form this week were Ken Robertson and Robbie Bull who not only had safe hits but also some fine catches.
Another player who had a busy time in the outfield and showed his athletic skills was Gary McLean taking 6 catches.
The final score was 14-2 to Dodgers – lets hope the boys will do better next week.

Vets Giants v Wainui at Wainui
We had our first game against the Wainui League team who beat us twice last season, and we won 14-8.
It was a good game for our new players Ray Stratford, who went well on the mound and batted well.
Great hitting performance from Alby Matthews, and good fielding and batting from ex Wainui player Gary Smith.
Top batting performance also from veteran Giants player Trevor Cross with 3 hits from 3 turns of bat. Good all round performance from a good rejuvenated vets team. New players Mark Fricker, Alby Matthews, Dean Day, Gary Smith along with regulars Robbie Bull, Ken Robertson, Gary McLean, Russell Kawana, Trevor Cross, Gary Strang (Gazza), Mark Logan (Tank) and Warren Karaitiana make the line up for the team this season.
Wainui also turned on the hospitality with providing fruit before the game and BBQ meal at their clubrooms after the game.
