WHAT IS GHYSA COMPETITIVE SOCCER?
Competitive Soccer Teams provide an opportunity for qualified players to compete at a higher level of competition with players of similar abilities. Identification of these players is through a carefully managed tryout process. Tryouts are conducted on a periodic basis by Competitive Team Coaches. Competitive Teams also provide opportunites for players to advance to Select Teams and ODP Programs.

Competitive Teams compete in the Back Mountain Travel League, Northeast Travel League, and other Leagues. Teams typically play 16 League Games over the Spring and Fall Seasons. Half of those Games are HOME games here at Community Park Complex. The farthest game is in the Clark Summit area and the team plays one time in the Spring and one time in the Fall. Competitive Teams also may compete in various tournaments around the State. Typical Competitive Teams play in 1 to 4 tournaments per year but the actual amount is determined by each individual team. Most Competitive Teams typically play Indoor Seasons at the Wyoming Valley Sports Dome or similar facilities.

Competitive Teams require a greater time and financial comittment by parents and players. Fees vary according to individual teams. Coaches are listed on both Travel League Web Sites and can provide you answeres to questions you may have.
