THE WALKER HIGH SCHOOL GAMES HAVE BEEN RESCHEDULED. DUE TO WALKER BEING IN THE HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL PLAYOFFS THEY DO NOT HAVE ENOUGH PLAYERS TO PARTICIPATE AT THIS TIME. PLEASE CHECK THE UPDATED SCHEDULE FOR THE CHANGES TO THE WALKER GAMES.

Mark Cornelius, a 1979 Gardendale High graduate, was named the varsity boys basketball coach. Mark played on the first playoff bound team in Rocket history and was named first team All State in 1979. Mark has extensive coaching experience at the collegiate and high school level. Welcome home Coach Cornelius !
College
* Jefferson State Jr. College ( 1979-1981 ) Attended and played basketball including runner-up in the 1980 National Junior College Basketball Championship. Mark was named to the 1980 All Region team.
* University of Montevallo ( 1981-1983 ) Attended and played basketball. Graduated in 1986 with a Bachelor's degree.
* University of Alabama - ( 1990 ) Master's degree.
Coaching Experience
* Mountain Brook High School ( 1998 - 2008 ) Varsity Boys Head Coach . Averaged 20 wins per season, 5 regional appearances, 2 regional final appearances and won a regional championship. Mark led the Spartans to the final four in 2001 and won 4 area championships. Mark won Metro Coach of the Year in 2001 and was named Mountain Coach of the Year in 2001 and 2005. Mark's 2005 team finished the season with 28 wins which is the most in school history and is the schools winningest head coach.
* Shelton State Community College ( 1990-1998 ) Head Coach.
* University of Alabama ( 1988 - 1990 ) Assistant Coach under Wimp Sanderson. Alabama won two SEC Tournament Championships and one Sweet Sixteen appearance during his tenure.
* Altamont High School ( 1986 - 1988 ) Head Coach.
