Play Ball! The Gowanus Heights Softball League is based in Brooklyn, New York. The league was established in 1988 and plays most of its games at the Six Diamonds complex in Brooklyn. The league offers competitive modified fast-pitch softball to adults 18 and over. In 2004, GHSBL hosted the Verrazano Narrows Fall League for the first time. Saturday, September 17

Marlins Win 2010 Fall Championship
The Marlins captured the 2010 Fall championship by besting the Killer Bees in two closely contested games. In game 1, the Marlins jumped out to an early 4-0 lead, but then held off a late rally by the Killer Bees to win 4-2. In game 2, the Killer Bees took an early 3-1 advantage, but the Marlins eventually tied the score at four before scratching out a fifth and deciding run in the top of the tenth inning. The victory gave the Marlins their second Fall championship in league history. Sunday, August 15
Queens Express Beats Outsiders, Repeats as Champs
Queens Express became the first GHSBL team to repeat as champions in 10 years thanks to a second consecutive series victory over the Outsiders. In the first game of the championship rematch, the Outsiders took an early 2-0 lead and then rallied to tie the game at 3-3 in the seventh, but Queens Express had the last laugh with a walk off 4-3 victory in the eighth. The Outsiders also got on the board first in the second game, but Queens Express stormed back with nine runs over the final four innings and cruised to a 9-4 clincher. Saturday, May 15
GHSBL Mourns Loss of Mel Santiago
The GHSBL regrets to announce the untimely passing of Mel Santiago, who was a long time member of the Marlins. Mel always played hard and was a friend to many, so his presence at the field each Satruday will be sorely missed. The league extends its condolences to the Marlins, Mel’s family and all who knew him.

Please Be Advised . . .
The following items are of particular importance, so please make your team aware of them: 1) Any team that forfeits a game for any reason and without prior notice (before 9 PM on the Friday before the game) will be responsible for paying a $70 fee. Should a team forfeit after 9 PM on Friday, including the day of the game, it will be responsible for the entire cost of the officials' fee ($156). 2) All teams MUST clean up after themselves at ALL fields. Failure to do so could result in a fine being levied against you by the Parks Department. 3) The consumption of alcohol is prohibited by order of the Parks Department. Failure to comply with this rule could result in the revocation of the league's permits.
In Case of Rain . . .
In the event of inclement weather, all teams are required to report to the field unless notified beforehand of a cancellation by the commissioner. If the fields are deemed playable and a team does not show up to play, they will be charged with a forfeit and assume responsibility for all officials' fees. All teams should also be prepared to work on the fields. In instances of extreme weather, games may be canceled in advance of Saturday's scheduled start times. If you are uncertain of your game's status, you must CALL THE COMMISSIONER. Should a game be a canceled and the commissioner is not accessible, a message will be left at this number. Unless you hear from the commissioner, either by phone, email, or phone message, you are responsible for showing up at the field.
