Registration for 2013 is now open!

Registration Fees are $200.00 for Residents and $280.00 for Non-Residents.

Early Bird Discount of $20 ends on 6/15 at Midnight. Any registrations on 6/16 and after are normal fees.
Multi Participant discount of $20.00 for each additional participant applies.
Registration closes on 7/21. Closes at Midnight on 7/20.

Changes have been made to comply with USA Football guidelines age categories for all our divisions.

The GFL board is trying to model our program to the National Program and implement the tools and techniques to ensure that our coaches and players can excel as they move up in the program. The "Heads Up" program is designed by progression of ages and techniques to make our sport as safe as possible.

What will participants need?  

Tackle players will need the following equipment prior to the start of conditioning week:

  • helmet
  • mouth piece
  • shoulder pads
  • practice jersey
  • practice pants (integrated pants, which means the pads are sewn in, are recommended)
  • cleats
  • water jug

The league will provide the game jerseys, game pants, and socks after players have been assigned to teams. 

Flag players will need the following equipment prior to the start of conditioning week:

  • mouth peice
  • cleats

Our Organization

The Germantown Football League (GFL) is a community based, volunteer organization who has partnered with the City of Germantown Parks and Recreation Department to provide recreational youth football (both flag and tackle) to children ages 5 to 12.  As the sole provider of football for the City of Germantown, the GFL and the City are both committed to the same goals – to provide a safe, structured environment for children to play, learn and enjoy the sport of football.  Passionate about providing all kids an opportunity to compete and participate on an equal and level playing field, the GFL will utilize a draft to form teams to ensure an equitable distribution of talent as well as a minimum play rule.  Mandatory evaluations for new and returning players will take place the week of July 23rd, the draft on July 29th, and team practices will begin on August 13th.  All games and practices will be held at Bob Hailey and Cameron Brown Park located off Farmington Road.

There will be four divisions offered this season - FLAG (ages 5 & 6), MITEY MITES (ages 7 & 8), PEE WEE (ages 9 & 10) and JUNIORS (ages 11 & 12).  Eligibility will be determined by the child's age as of Aug 1st.  All Mitey Mite, Pee Wee and Juniors must be weighed prior to the start of the season to determine their eligibility to participate as well as run with the football.  Weight limits for all three divisions are listed within the League's Rule Book.

  
Volunteers Needed
The GFL depends on volunteer parent coaches to support league play.  Each team is assigned one Head Coach and one Assistant Coach prior to the start of the season.  If you are on the fence or nervous about committing, don't be.  We provide several tools to help prepare you.  The Coaches Risk Management Handbook is a great resource guide and we conduct a preseason coaching clinic to educate you on the process and answer any questions or concerns you may have about the upcoming season.  Please consider volunteering as a coach if you have not already done so.  Coaching provides a great opportunity to be a positive influence in a child's life, teach meaningful lessons through sport, and have lots of fun.

Germantown Field Conditions
City of Germantown field conditions hotline: 751-5669.  We sincerely want to practice and play as bad as the kids, but decisions will be made in consultation with Parks and Recreation with the best interest of the fields in mind.  It is a long season and we have to take care of the turf.
