On behalf of the YWCA Gettysburg & Adams County Sharks Swim Team Coaches, we would like to welcome everyone to the summer 2012 season. 

The Sharks Swim Team has been competing for over 25 years at the YWCA.  With the expertise and dedication of our coaches, the program continues to grow.  Our coaching staff's knowledge and experience paves the paths for team members to excel in the sport of competitive swimming.  The goals for our program are to encourage and foster sportsmanship, teamwork, fellowship and FUN!!

Parent Association meetings:  The swim meets can only function with the help of all of the swim team parents.  Please re-check this site often for meeting dates and important information.

First Parent Meeting:  Tuesday, May 15, 2012....6:00 PM at the YWCA....Please plan to attend.

Meet Schedule: To be determined...will be updated once the schedule is complete.

Team Suits:  The team suit this year is the Speedo Quantum Spliced Proback for the girls and Speedo Quantum Spliced jammer for the boys.  (Navy and Gold)  The suits can be purchased through online sites such as swimoutlet.com. 

Swimmer's Mailbox:  All swimmers will have mailboxes/folders in the hallway outside of the locker room.  These will be updated for the summer season on Monday May 8.  If your child is missing one, please let us know. We recommend that your child makes a habit of checking his/her folder every night after practice. The ribbons that your child earns from swim meets should be available for pick-up from their folder the day after a dual meet, or within a week of an Invitational.

We are looking for parents who may be willing to write an article and take pictures of an individual swimmer or the team.  The article will be published in the Gettysburg Times.  It will provide us with an opportunity to inform the community about the successes of our Sharks Swim Team and to encourage others to get involved.  The article should be 430- 500 words.  If you are interested, please contact Aquatics Director, Cora Rhoads at mailto:atcrhoads@ywcagettysburg.org.  

As a reminder: Swimmers are not allowed to chew gum in the pool area and food is not permitted in the pool area- even during a swim meet.
