Get Real 18's Win the Get Real Invitational!!

The Get Real VBC hosted a 14U/18U tournament on 4/3/10 at Tunkhannock HS and MS.  Our 14U team started the day off strong, finished first in their pool at 6-2 and ended up losing in the semi-finals in a 3-set match to CEVA.  The girls were much improved from their last outing and had a lot of fun!

The 18U team won their second tournament of 2010!!  After finishing second in their pool, the girls turned it up in the playoffs and knocked out the Anacondas in the semi-finals and then defeated Mountain VBC in a 3-set final.  Another great day on the courts for the girls!!  Congratulations to Kim, Caitlyn, Liz, Erin, Ashley, Sara, Emily and Katie for a job well done!!

Get Real At It Again for 2010 - Celebrating 10 years of Existence!!
The Get Real Girls VBC is re-organizing once again for the 2010 club season.  At present time, it appears we will have 6 teams, ranging in ages from 14-U to 18-U.  Currently, the club plans to compete in AAU tournaments only from February through May of 2010.  The club has been very successful through the years, while maintaining a philosophy of improving local high school players, and not just assembling an all-star team to compete in tournaments.  We are all very excited to be doing this for the 10th year in a row!!

Get Real 1 Beats Get Real 2 in Battle for Club Supremacy!
The Get Real 18's (18-1 and 18-2) participated in a local scrimmage tournament on Sunday, April 5th.  The two teams actually finished in a tie for first after pool play, but 18-2 was the #1 seed for the playoffs since they defeated 18-1 two out of three.  18-1 won their semi-final match vs. the Anacondas, and the two battled it out in a shortened final (Bst of 3 to 15 pts. only).  18-1 woke up and got some redemption by defeating 18-2 in 2 games to claim the mythical title!!  All in all, it was a good day of volleyball for everyone who participated!!

Get Real Girls Finish 2008 Campaign
The Get Real 18's and 16's traveled to Garden Spot HS on 5/17/08 to participate in their final tournament.  The 16's endured a tough day playing without a setter (both middle hitters set) and with back row players in the front row, etc.  Good experience, but not good results!  The 18's faired much better, continuing their hot streak of making the playoffs and being one of the teams to beat.  This was the toughest field of teams in all the tournaments we've competed in this year, and the girls still managed to emerge from their pool in 2nd place after finishing with an identical 6-2 record as the 1st place team (Wild Blue) and losing the tie-breaker on points.  The girls played the host Garden Spot club in the semi-finals.  Garden Spot dominated their pool and were very tough.  Game 1 was lost 23-25, but the girls rebounded to win Game 2 25-21.  Game 3 started well as the team got out to a 4-2 lead, but then they ran out of gas and lost the third set.  This was the day after the prom for the girls, and after deciding not to sleep and see what happened, they simply didn't have enough gas in the tank at the end.  Overall, another solid day for a great bunch of girls, many of whom we will lose to graduation.  Thanks to Aimee, Kirby, Diane, Kerri, Tori, Lizz and Jordan for an excellent year, and for some, an excellent several years as part of the club.  Aimee, Kirby, Diane and Jordan will be leaving us and we'll miss you!!

Get Real 18-1 Makes 3rd Straight Finals Appearance - Takes 2nd
The Get Real 18-1 squad ended another succesful day as the runner-up at Albright College on 4/27/08.  The girls finished first in their pool with an 8-0 record, won a 3-game playoff over the Coal Crackers and lost in the Finals to the Falcons from Pennsbury.  An excellent effort on the day, especially defensively, kept the girls in the hunt from the first serve.  Pennsbury had a distinct size advantage and blocked extermely well to help lead them to victory.  Congrats to Aimee, Kirby, Kerri, Diane, Tori, Lizz and Jordan for another job well done!!

Get Real 18's Runner-Up At Grovers
The Get Real 18's were bridesmaids for the second tournament in a row after suffering a one-game final defeat at Pine Grove on 4/28/07. The girls emerged from pool play in 1st place with a 7-2 record, having defeated the eventual champion Pottsville 2 out of 3. A one-game semifinal victory over Grovers set up the rematch with Pottsville in the final. All the while thinking it was the usual best of 3 final (Guess we should read the tournament info next time!!), the girls started off slowly, but did not panic. Realizing it was only a one game final only after the score was about 7-2, we tried to change our fortunes a little quicker. The girls never quite got on-track and lost. The girls were very dissapointed in the result feeling they could have fared better in a best of 3. Cynics will certainly point out that the better team should always find a way to win, even in a one game final. However, we are a notoriously slow starting team and need a little time to get going! Guess we need to work a little harder to correct that!! Pottsville was very talented and certainly earned the win, so we take nothing from them. Congrats to Aimee, Kirby, Diane, Kerri, Alisa, April and Danielle for a good day overall!!

Get Real 18's Win Queens Court Tournament
The Get Real 18's (playing shorthanded, or so we thought!) won their second juniors tournament ever on Sunday, April 10th, 2005. The girls came out of a tough pool in second place to beat the first place team, Exeter Extreme, in a one-game semi-final. The team then cruised to victory over an exhausted PH Tigers team from the other pool. Congratulations to Holly, Kirsten, Amy, Stacey, Sarah and Krista for a job well-done!

Get Real 17's Tie for 3rd at Regionals
The Get Real 17's capped off a very strong season with a third place finish in their first ever trip to the regional championships! The girls played very well all day despite the somewhat intimidating surroundings and magnitude of the event. Congratulations to all on a job well done!
